The shaft on my playing cue is too whippy. i want a shaft with a firmer hit, i was wondering if anyone knew a cue maker who could help me out with this. My playing cue has sentimental value so i don't want to replace the whole thing just the shaft. Any help would be appreciated Thank you.

One way to go about it might be play with some different cues until you find a shaft stiffness that is too your liking. (you have friends with cues, right?)
Use calipers.....measure diameter of said shaft every inch........send shaft specs and butt to qualified builder. Receive new shaft with old butt in a short period of time.
Good luck.......

Jack Madden will make you a shaft from fiddleback maple. You will love it!

He has made two for me. They are not cheap but I will put them up against any shaft out there.

I can recommend Tiger-X shaft for sure. A nice firm hit.

Haven't played with an OB-1 or the new Pred's but that is one way to go.

The only problem is if you have a unique ring/collar.

Only if the cue make won't make it for him.

I purchased both my 314 from Viking and Samsara, with matching joint rings, for about $20 more than the best internet price.

shaft

I bought some radially laminated blanks from Atlas and had Bill McDaniel make me some shafts using a regular ferrule not that lump of plastic Predator uses. I really like the way they play good solid stiff hit.

the new 314_2 has a nice stiff hit and the typical pred clunk when you hit the ball is gone it is a really nice up grade

the 314 is perfect for me in terms of flex, the standard 314 shafts are imo the best hitting shafts on the market, and i really prefer having a very firm hit/shaft.

i dont like the rest of the layered/lamanated shafts, as the z shafts hit wayy too flexible, the meucci black dots hit like crap, never played with the new x shaft, and the micdurmott(sp) carbon core shafts dont hit too bad but it doesnt have that pure wood hit like the 314.

so overall, i'd say try hitting some balls with a 314 shaft and see how it feels

Have a custom maker make you a shaft. Then you can get it as stiff as you'd like.
