i need two one pocket players!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about that john henry from detroit hes no champion put he is about 75-80 and he can beat most b-c players

Don't forget about Strawberry!

I hear Strawberry still steps up to the plate when the going gets good. ;)

BTW, there's an episode of that HBO show "The Wire" in which Strawberry makes a cameo appearance with a speaking part. When the producers of the show were filming in Baltimore and saw Strawberry standing on the outside looking in with the rest of the spectators, they singled him out because they liked his style. I have yet to see this episode, but I heard it was pretty funny.

AND a friend of mine in the D.C. area told me that there is currently a documentary in the making about Strawberry Brooks' life as a pool player, which I can't wait to see unfold!

A few other notable seasoned one-hole players that come to mind are Bob Ogburn, Bus Driver Ronnie, Chicken Man, Patch-Eye, and Wade Crane.

Picture of Strawberry Brooks and Keith below (for the youngsters)!

Is the fellow on the right-hand side depicted below the same "John Henry from Detroit" you are referring to, BigGame?

I'm just a little curious as I haven't seen this guy in years. He used to frequent the Maryland area and was a main fixture in the pool scene here.

The John Henry I know always had a great sense of humor and was lots of fun to hang out with. He's got the gift of gab and could always get things going. I like his style, and one-pocket was his game of choice!

What about Nate & Grady ?

:p One of the very best players ever is in his late 60s is Nate from the Washington, D.C. area. He and Grady would bring a lot of knowledge and experience to the table. Both have played for big money for years too, so shouldn't be intimidated.

Jam - I KNOW HIM WELL - What is Strawberry's age ???
TY & GL

I'm venturing to guess, maybe Strawberry is in his early sixties. I've heard from others in my area that he still plays on occasion. Another strong legendary D.C. one-pocket player is "Sterling."

I recently heard that J-Paul in Detroit is playing again, a possible choice for seasoned one-pocket players.

Keith mentioned Harry Platis, Al Romero, and John Henderson are possible candidates.

I'm not sure how old he is or if he plays one-pocket, but Ray Martin is noteworthy.

Just a few more names that come to mind... :p

This just in...

I just got finished talking to a fellow who's good friends with Strawberry.

Strawberry Brooks is 73 years old and is the pride of D.C., especially as it pertains to one-pocket.

If you want to contact Strawberry, here is an e-mail address to one of his good friends who is ready, willing, and able to get this show on the road:

We've got another one-hole player here in D.C. named "The Mailman" a/k/a "Jackie Robinson" because he likes baseball, but his real name is William Morton, a young 71 years of age. He won the 1997 8-Ball Championship in Vegas, but his game of choice is one-pocket!
