8/27/10: Mr. Simsek informs me that the package has been sent - providing a foreign looking tracking #. I attempt to track it using various known carriers. Nothing works.
*** Ira, the tracking numbers from here do NOT and should not look foreign, whatsoever. There is a standardized system among most post offices around the world. For instance, a sample tracking number of USPS would be something like:
CP123456789US. They sometimes start with CL, or maybe other letters, but always ends with "US". In comparison, a tracking number that was originated from Turkish Post office would look something like:
CP123456789TR. Notice the difference as to "TR" vs. "US". Or, if it was shipped from DHL/Deutsche Post of Germany, it would end with "DE". From Belgium, I believe "BE". That is the ONLY difference.
I would like to ask at this point. Have you ever received a package from outside US, and if yes, have you ever tried to track it at USPS site, in the immediate days that follow the shipment date?
Excuse me, but I will use another analogy in this case. This reminds me of an American friend who comes visits me at my home, sits at the couch, grabs the remote and goes: "Hey, how come I am not getting any ESPN Sports here? WTF?"
Ira, the tracking number (usually) shows at USPS track&info site, AFTER the package enters into US and comes into posession of the USPS. Say, I bought something on the internet/ebay, etc. And I was given a tracking number. I DO NOT immediately try and start trying to track it at the (delivering company of) Turkish Post's website! It takes time 10-12 business days waiting (whether sending or receiving to/from US) has ALWAYS been my experience. And I would like to point out to the fact that, 10-12 business days, translates to a good 15-16 days.
Now, there are exceptions. Sometimes, a given tracking number will NOT pop up at the USPS tracking site whatsoever, and delivery of a given package would be made. And sometimes, I order something on Ebay, and same (standardized) info, I find both at USPS and PTT (Turkish Post) websites, simultaneously. Sometimes, for no apparent reason, a package gets stuck at the customs stage (Before the carrier company takes posession of a package, it must first clear the customs. and sometimes, things can get delayed even few more days)
People who are experienced with tracking things from internet purchases, shall relate to things I've been trying to explain.
Conclusively: You just should have been patient with receiving the package from 10K miles away.
9/1/10: Mr. Simsek gives me a turkish postal link which provides no meaningful information about the package whereabouts. Mr. Simsek pastes me some lines that he apparently cut out from his search results. Says the package is in the US now and that I should be able to track it with USPS. Not true.
*** You said, the Turkish Post's website provided no meaningful information. Well, I apologize on Turkish Post's website, if their crooked way of explaining things in the English language did not conform to you. But knowing that it would make little sense to you, I remember, I explained it in clear English, judging by what you wrote, that, the package was sent to US and that you should be able to track it. IF the status read that the package was SENT TO US, it means, it WAS sent to US. And, on a normal case, few days after, you should be able to track it at your USPS site! This is the core of the matter. Now, if the Turkish Post was acting in a fraudal manner, by scanning your package's barcode and notating in their system as it was sent to US, but in fact they were holding your package, and all the customs police were busy watching the carom DVDs when they were supposed to be working...I don't know anything about that
I am just joking. Ira, have you received anything from abroad, say, Korea, France or etc?
9/6/10: Still no package. No info from the turkish postal tracking #. Mr. Simsek suggests me to wait till Friday 9/10/10. Friday comes and goes.
A week later 9/17/10, the package arrives at my parent's house. (I was moving at the time so I had the package shipped there). When I open it I am angry to see a bunch of cheap handwritten bootleg DVDs - I want a refund right away. Still, I try hard to play them, but most don't even play. I spend the next couple of days trying different video players and computer software. Even as bootlegs, most of the DVDs had problems being incomplete and broken.
***There can be issues as to different formats, PAL (Euro and rest of world) vs. NTSC (US, Japan, etc) as it was discussed at that dvd sale thread that I created. However, you should have had NO problems with playing them on computer.
9/21/10: I send a message to Mr. Simsek explaining my problem and expressing my objection to the pirated videos (being represented as originals). I offer to buy the "2 bonus DVDs" he sent me (the ones I didn't even order) for $20 and ask for $80 back for the broken bootlegs.
I actually think the quality of those videos is good - they at least PLAYED.
*** Did you think that the quality of the videos were good?
Wow, I am a little surprised to hear this  Thank you for your candid opinion.
He responds saying that he will forward my complaints to his "friend" and see what he says. Already, I am feeling a bit uneasy. But at least Mr. Simsek informs me that his friend happens also to be a close friend of Semih Sayginer - as I am.
*** I immediately forwarded your complaints to this non-English-speaking friend that I met in a local hall. His response, which I explained several times before. He is a friend of Saygıner. He is even very close with national team related group of people.
9/23/10: No response from Mr. Simsek yet. I send another message asking if his "friend" has responded. Nothing.
9/24/10: I send yet another message to Mr. Simsek to find out if his "friend" has responded. He responds by apologizing to me that his "friend" declined my refund request. Mr. Simsek offers to give me $20 (the amount of his commission) and to select more match DVDs.
*** $20 was not my commission. This is not something I made money. (And the period of time it took so far in order for me to read and reply to this OUTRAGEOUS thread, and the wages that I make pertaining to this period of time, far exceeds such figures being talked here)
I offered so,
I RESPOND CLEARLY STATING THAT I AM NOT INTERESTED in that resolution (more DVDs) and that I WANT A REFUND. This is the LAST communication that I will receive from Mr. Simsek.
*** I responded several times, that the seller is not interested in paying 85 bucks back to you -10 bucks went to shipping, around 5 bucks went to Paypal. And I dont feel compelled to paying a benjie out of my own pocket for someone else.
9/28/10: I send a message to explain my position clearly to Mr. Simsek - that I felt deeply saddened. Within the message, about his friend I say this, "I don't know his name as you have shielded me from his identity. All I know about him (from you) is that he is a "close friend" of Semih's.
*** You have NEVER asked the identity of him from me.
