I popped my tip

I got a little overzealous with the burnisher last night (I think thats what its called - its that plastic thing that shapes the tip end..kind of looks like a gun silencer)

Anyway, the damn tip came right off. What sort of epoxy or glue should i use to re-attach? Will I need a clamp or anything?
 
I just replaced 2 tips (house cues) with loctite gel last night. Not one problem with them.
 
I did too. It was last night around midnight, in her Jeep, in the parking lot of the Carolina Ale House. Why would you bring this up on a pool forum?

My girl took care of popping the proverbial tip earlier in the evening:groucho:

Thankfully, my burnisher was not involved.

After a string of questionable newbies lately, I've become suspicious of new members. However, after reading your posts, you seem to be capable of both substance AND humor. I think I'm going to enjoy having you around...:thumbup:

On topic, you need to settle down with that burnisher....;)

Any cyanoacrylate (superglue) will work. I use the gel version as it doesn't run out the sides of the tip as much. Be sure you send both the tip and the ferrule to remove all of the old glue.

Heh, "newbie" is relative I suppose. To us "old timers" on AZ almost everyone is a newbie to some degree. And, FWIW, this version of AZ isn't even the original. And RSB was around for years prior. So almost everyone is a "newbie" to the likes of Ron Sheppard, Bob Jewett, Fred Agnir and that group! We're talking mid 90s! Hell, Al Gore had barely invented the internet then ;)

I've been a hopless addict of this forum for sometime now. Its nice to finally get my fix from all angles. :groucho: (I cant get enough of this groucho emoticon! Now all we need is a Hunter S. Thompson emoticon! - that would be the nuts:D)

Fair enough, you have been here for 4 years longer than I...But I was a lurker for 2 of those years...I have a good idea of what this forum is, compared to what it used to be. I think many of the new members are previously banned aliases, who are just out to troll in revenge for being prematurely booted. (In THEIR opinions)

I was mainly talking about the staggering number of members who have joined since Jan. of this year, and have already been banned. Or ignored by the majority, which is even worse.

AZ seems to have some sort of troll attractant lately. I'm just happy to see a new member who looks like he might become a positive contributor to the forum.

I notice you intend to re-attach your old tip. Tips are reletively inexpensive, I would recommend that you buy a new one.

If you insist on doing it yourself, which can be a good thing depending on your abilty to pay attention to detail, then using a new tip instead of your old tip will make your job a lot easier.

I also recomend any Cyanoacrylate gel type glue. You can use after about 20min, but I recomend you give it at least 6-8hrs to season properly, if possible.
 
That's the reason I don't use that burninsing tool. (Yes, I do have one.)
I use a business card wrapped around a flat stick, like a ruler or paint stirrer.

Im going to hit up the hardware store for some sandpaper and glue this evening when I get off the train.

I'll probably take a stab at re-tipping sometime in the future, but for now, I want to get this particluar tip back on. Its at the perfect played in stage and still has a lot of life left in it.

Little bit of spit first

Make sure when you use those burnishers you wet the side of the tip with a little spit first, and dont push to hard just turn it around. Im talking from experience with a few popped off tips.

I like my tip to get spit on before its burnished too. :o
