I Want A New Cue

After searching far and wide some more I ran across this Pechauer cue. It is very close to what I am looking for. I might go ahead and order this one as well. Be nice to have a new Joss and a new Pechauer within a few weeks..:)

Plus I am heading to Owensboro in a few weeks. Might talk with Chad Carter about having an Ebony/Bone cue made.

That pechauer is a nice cue, but it is stained maple and not ebony.

That's a nice price on the JP.

Well, it's close enough to black. And the rectangles in the butt sleeve are pretty much what I've been wanting. It's not perfect but since it might take who knows how long to get exactly what I want it might be doable.
Just making sure you were aware that it was stained maple since you stated you wanted ebony and bone. They way they worded it at first read made me think it was ebony for a split second.
How bout ebony and elforyn??

I wonder if Seybert's would take 2-3 pictures of the cue and email them to me? Soes I could see exactly what it looks like?

Stained maple just look solid black
True.

But I guess since it's black that's the main thing.
If just a black cue and white inlays/points is what matters then there are many options.
Maybe you missed the link I've posted before for a cue

Pechauer have a bunch that will fit this, here is one for example:

So do Peri cues, here is one:

Here is one from Lucasi

you can find so many once it doesn't have to be real ebony or bone

Nice cues but not quite what I am looking for. I like the rectangles in the Pechauer JP cue I posted earlier in this thread. Find me a black/white cue similar to that.

You're not getting a tuxedo but a polyester suit. As mentioned, tuxedo usually refers to ebony/ivory in the cue building world since the only white stuff in cue making back before the ban was ivory.

Honestly stick with what you want and ebony/bone is as close as you can get. Since there is an ivory ban why even settle on the wood.

Imagine someone seeing your cue.

"Wow that is a nice tuxedo cue! Ebony and ivory?"
"No...ivory is banned"

"It's ok...but that ebony is beautiful. Love the jet black."
"No...its not ebony either."

LOL

Now you mentioned you just want the color combo then any of the recommendations would suffice.

May I suggest this Mezz...probably the best you can get in this scheme. It's sort of hard to find this model now since Mezz has become holy grails for some.

Joss do have a 5 points cue that looks better but too similar to my Jacoby.
I couldn’t find any Joss cue that I liked its design.
Ended up going with a Chinese cue…
Maybe in the future I’ll see a Joss that I like
I happen to think that while Dan Janes (RIP) was still at the helm, Joss Cues Custom Shop produced masterful cues
equally comparable to any cue made by any of Dan’s peers. And Joss’s catalog cues had some very appealing designs. I happen to like Joss’s Color of Money Cue design and Chopdoc pointed out a couple of other handsome designs. The Paladin design was a dandy design and if was fine by some like Manzino or JMW, it would be expensive. Joss Cues offers a excellent quality at reasonable prices and I hope Dan’s passing doesn’t in any way change that.

So what's their appeal? I don't see it. Growing up people talked about them but I have never seen one in the flesh.

I like more of a classic style and Joss like everyone in the past had them.
I don’t like most of the current Joss designs and those that I like costs too much for me.
I like the COM cue but again the gap in the points drivers me crazy… I might get it someday just because of the movie hehehe

I’m sure that there are a lot of people that like Joss designs, different strokes…

I have enough cues and really don’t need another. I was in the market for a cue that I could attach an extension for league play so I wasn’t into spending too much money.
I ended up also getting a slip-on extension that fits all my cues so no more problems there.
Something I did notice with my latest cue and also with a Predator P3, new cues feel a bit different than old ones, I guess it has to do either modern production construction of the cues or performance design. The butts feel more dense and a bit thinner, very solid and stiff hit.

Not what I am looking for. I want the rectangles in the butt sleeve. This cue is too plain looking.

The original post had no special design requests, now we have some...
Just go custom, get what you really want and wait for it, you have other cues to shoot with untill you'll get it

Can anybody help me find a new cue? Preferable mostly ebony with ivory or bone inlays. Nothing too elaborate. And no wood to wood joints. And no used ones. I am not interested in buying your cue no matter how little you played with it.

Can anybody point me in the right direction? Any cuemakers got some for sale? Or websites?

I haven't bought a new cue in 4-5 years now so I am way overdue. Also, one last thing - I prefer one that makes balls as compared to most of the ones I have now that seem to always miss balls.

Contact these people to see if they have something that fits what you are looking for.

Tom Watters at Recollection Cues
Bill Grassley at Cornerstone Custom Cues
Eddie Piekarski at Crossroad Cues
Jamie Wernsman(Worminator here @ Az) New2YouQs
Greg Antonakos(g89ball here @ Az) American Cue Pickers

If they don't have what you want, then go the custom build route.

I really do not using a bridge but on 9’ tables, unless your are 6’2” or taller, it becomes unavoidable at some point.
None of my cues were built to accept an extension. I never ordered a cue built for an extension because a long time
ago, I bought the 12” and 18” Tony Ryan oak extensions. I’ve never been able to find either of these extensions again.

I think the design was spot on and the handle feels like you are holding a house cue. I only carry the 18” version nowadays whereas before it was the 12”. Sometimes with the 12” extension, I still needed to use a bridge but with the longer 18” extension handle, it is very rarely. And if I do use a bridge, it is a collapsible metal version I carry in my cue case pocket. I sandpapered smooth the plastic head to make sure my cue shaft would never get marred.

My cue shafts are pristine and completely smooth, better than anything I’ve gotten from the original cue maker. I am
approached with requests to remove nicks, scrapes, dents on cue shafts. I must get 3-5 requests weekly. Sometimes
it takes several hours to refinish a shaft but when it is finished, the recipients always played much better pool afterward,
well, at least for awhile. The reality becomes old habits always return unless you successfully replaced it with a new one.
Pre-shot routines are an example. You play better when you have one and stick to it, however, most players don’t.

I’m 6 foot and play on 9ft tables only.
I use the bridge and I’m pretty good with it.
But some shots are easier to get position using an extension
