Your friend must shoot pretty darn well to take on 'Captain Hook' :)

your friend

your "friend" wouldnt happen to be John Schmidt would it? thats the only person i know from milton florida that would even consider playing hook. (and rightly so) well if this match happens then is it going to be in Milton? on the diamonds? someone told me that pool hall is a dance club now... if they do play then try to post on here ahead of time because i would drive down there to watch them play... would be a hell of a match

Out of curiosity, how well does Mike play one-pocket? I don't think I've ever seen him play any at all so I haven't a clue.

Travis McKinney
p.s. when might this match take place?

Mike Sigel, while not a one-pocket specialist, won one of the "Legends" tournaments in the early '90s. And those fields were stacked.

$bill

how the hell are ya $Bill? havent talked to you in a while. been away from the game for a while and im finally getting back in. there's been some good action over here (suprisingly enough) in the last couple of days. alot of roadies been coming through the last 2 or 3 weeks. (strong arm john, Junior from atlanta, and some guy from ohio... just to name a few) i hope this thing does get off cause that would be some good action to watch. i dont know how they will be playing but i know there will be enough to cover the rails also. hey "floptit" keep us posted on whats going on and let us know if they are going to play.

Sigel has no prayer against John S.
He'd break his stick again if he played JS.

These kinds of posts are ridiculous. Even if John Schmidt is the favorite against Sigel (which may or may not be true), Sigel certainly would "have a prayer" against him. Sigel's one of the best players of all time, and he's still fairly young. Even if John Schmidt thinks he's the favorite, I can't imagine him saying, "Mike Sigel has no prayer against me."

It's like saying Nick Varner or Buddy Hall has no prayer against John Schmidt.

nice reply backpocket, Never count out anyone who was a great player just because he don't play on tour. Mike sigel has heart or he wouldn't have won all those titles against some of the greatest players who ever picked up a cue.

I agree. Even though Sigel has been out of professional competition for a few years, he's still a huge danger ANYTIME he's at the table no matter whom he's playing.

My bet is on Sigel pretty much anyday.

Sigel

well a friend of mine talks with Mike pretty regularly so i will have him call mike and see if there is any truth to this post. but i agree with you guys. although he hasnt been playing on the tour lately doesnt mean he still hasnt been playing. and you can NEVER count out someone that plays his speed. at any game... but we will see... i will keep you guys posted on whether or not there is any truth to this "challenge"... would be nice to watch these two guys match up though...

I saw Mike play in an International One Pocket tournament in 1992 (Strawberry's Tourney), in Maryland. Prior to that I had only seen him play 9 ball. Even though he showed a bit of frustration in his playing (some of you know what I mean), he still placed in the top 10. Nobody I know would ever count him out of any game.

I think Joseph Cues was making a joke alluding to the Straight pool match Mike had against John when Mike made a tournament comeback. Mike did get frustrated and break his cue. Its on accustats.

Actually I think Sigel won that tournament. I was there, but had to fly out before it finished. My favorite part of the whole tournament was actually the after hours -- especially Grady and 'Bugs' .

Well, anyone stupid enough to post their phone number on this board and...

IS stupid enough to not know how to contact Mike Sigel... whose phone number is all over the internet..

Really IS stupid enough to back someone against him.

But IS probably too stupid to have $10,000.

Cripes, "Floptit" - Should be FLOP NIT.

Dont Insult

i really hate when poeple start running there mouth like this. this is probably some guy that just started playing league and all of a sudden now he is a pool hustler or something... anyway on to the real subject... just so you know Floptit i have gotten your message to a friend of mine that is going to call Mr. Sigel for you to set up your one pocket Challenge. although i wont count mike out i like you think i like John's end of the action but you never can tell. if you do end up playing then post when they are going to play and i will come down there to watch with some friends of mine. (by the way $Bill your more than welcome to ride along with me) im from the pensacola area so i know my way around there very well. just need to know when to show up.

Actually the winner of that one was Tommy (Tom Tom) Wirth, a local Marylander. He put up with me when I was learning the game and at one time I could actually win one out of 4 or 5 games. Sadly, now I probably couldn't make 4 or 5 BALLS since I rarely play One Pocket any more.

Isn't the favorite part always after hours? I wish I didn't need to sleep from time to time so I wouldn't miss anything.

There were a lot of great guys (characters) at that tournament. Bugs has always been a source of entertainment and great playing for anyone who has ever met him. Same goes for most of the rest. :)
