I seriously doubt that most HS have a golf team.....maybe many of the very large schools, but thats a small percentage of the total.
I've always said that if as many kids that grow up playing baseball played golf, that there would be many "tiger woods"
i believe the same is with pool.....most dont learn from a young age, and if they do its just banging balls at a friends with no proper instruction or coaching.
if it grew and started to pay out, foundations would emerge that would involve children in youth leagues eventually.....and there would be many Shanes, Earls, Rodneys etc.
It would really toughen up the competition and the overall average caliber of player would become higher. The caliber of the worlds top pros would also be on the rise.
The more people you have to pick from the better the chances of finding gold. Thats the reason why schools have divisions C-6A......obviously a class 2A sports team with 300 kids to pick from the school is highly likely to be well under the skill level of a 6A school with 2k plus kids to pick from.
Just odds. More money, more players of all ages come which brings more money, more coaches/instructors, more structure.....better play.
Its already like that to a degree......many of the best players come from areas where pool, tournaments and gambling at it is very popular and participation high.
