I would like to know how all the AZB fans and members pool game is going in 2011?

Needo, you are right on track in 2011, except for your 14.1 game!

I have brought my self up a ball in 9 ball. I have about a ball and a half to go to get back where I was before I quit playing 14 years ago. I am currently going nuts waiting on my first custom cue. My 14-1 game seams to be going no where. It is still good overall since I finally get to loose myself in the green.

Needo, I am very glad to hear the good news about your 9 ball game coming up a ball. That is great! I think you will get it back where you had it before! Do not worry about the 14.1 game right now. Do all you can for your 9 ball game until you get it where you want it to be. Remember 14 years is a long time, and you are back almost where you were then or before you stopped playing pool. After you get it right try a little One Pocket and see iy you like that! I know you can't wait on your custom cue, and that might help you out even more. I appreciate your response very much. it is a real pleasure to hear how your game is going in 2011.
Thanks.

Jason, you are correct again. But my banks are deadly and on target.

Hey Lock N Load,

In all seriousness, banking and kicking are two of the toughest things to do well and consistent in pool. I don't think you can ever master them exactly because the table conditions change to often. I would add working on your kick safes as well. All are important weapons and will serve you greatly in the future.

I would rather bank or kick a ball than to shoot it straight in the pocket. But I agree with you on the table condition changing, and the toughest things to do is kicking and banking consistently! When I hit balls I always bank and kick. Certain people I play, we always bank the pay ball. I bank 9 ball a lot also. Race to 5 balls all clean banks no kicks. I appreciate your input Jason. Thanks.

How about a little 14.1 flavor in this thread?

I hope this thread isn't limited to "pool, color by numbers" (i.e. rotation games). Let's put a straight pool flavor in this thread.

Personally, I'm working on my "long distance patterns" (i.e. patterns many balls in advance) to work towards the best end-rack patterns and optimal break-ball.

Also, I have a nasty habit of losing my focus after about 100 balls, and find myself "throwing the cue" at easy shots. My high run this year is 112 on January 10th, and I pooched an easy straight-in stop shot on ball 113 to end the run; again, a result of throwing my cue at the shot. I hope to break into the 200 club this year, but obviously I need to work on post-100-ball focus issues to reach that goal.

I plan to make some progress before the Super Billiards Expo in March, to put up some good runs in the Fury 14.1 Challenge.

You touched on a good one there, sf. "Throwing the cue", as you say, bites me in the butt every now and again when playing One Pocket. Paying attention, and maintaing one's focus is a key ingedient when playing hour after hour.

I have an incredible amount of envy for you to be able to play 5-6 days a week. I can hit the hall at best 2 days a week. With the hours I work I would need to find a 24 hour pool hall to be able to do that.

I worked hard for many years at self employment, did not play any pool for many years, retired at 50. Sadly as you get older Health goes down hill goes in many cases to do do. My dad is 90, and says he would have taken better care of his body had he know he would have live so long.

Big Arm, I am not into snooker. Sorry about that.

Trying to learn snooker.

Hello Big Arm,
I played Snooker a couple times, and it never got off the ground with me. A friend of mine in Atlanta, GA, was trying to teach me the game. He is called Power Lock, of the Lock Society! I told him I had enough trouble trying to play all of the pool games. And that was the end of Snooker for me. I hope you get into Snooker like you want to for 2011! I like to watch it being played by other people. I appreciate your response. Thanks. Best of luck to you on Snooker for 2011.

Hello Sfleinen,
now we are about to add some spice to this thread, good ol 14.1 and One Pocket! I just got off of the phone with a friend of mine who plays 14.1 everyday. He is good, but I think you are already better with your 112 balls in this 2011. I played One Pocket last night, and my rock speed was a little off for some reason. I probably play to much 9 ball. And not enough One Hole! I tell you what, your are hitting the balls great with that 112 balls you ran for your high.

You need to build your confidence up a bit, and that will make you stay focused better. Put your thoughts more into the game. Drink more water while you are playing... Take a little break when you get to 90 balls. No cell phone calls while you are playing. Turn it off. I see everyone lay their phone on a table and every 20 minutes they are over looking at it. To stay focused you do not need any distractions at all. I do not like earphones in my ears either, listening to music while playing does not help me. How many Pros do you see with earphone in their ears! None!
Watch a few more 14.1 DVD's and videos! Make sure you watch very close... Watch other players when they are playing 14.1. No talk just watch their moves.... Get more playing time in for yourself. I hope some of what I have said helps your game at least a little bit. I appreciate your response. Thanks. I am proud of your run of 112 balls as well. Keep me informed about your progress in 2011.

Lock N Load,

I grew up playing 8 ball and then took years off. Finally converted a shop into a man cave and got a pool table. I started becoming interested in snooker and found a Gold Crown 5x10 snooker table at a killer price (paid more to have it moved than for it) so I am trying to learn the game. Being a pretty bad pool player isn't helping! But in some ways I think snooker matches my playing style better. I have always been the finesse player and never really powered the cue ball. It seems the only way I can pot a snooker ball is to be very soft and very accurate. Can do the first, not the second! It is a frustrating, but fun game.

:shocked2:my game has officially gone to hell. i started off the year in the worst slump of my life. then the levy broke last week. my shoulder dislocated, and i now have a pinched nerve in my neck. the nerve is causing horrendous pain in my upper back and neck and then the shoulder (it's dislocated many times so i can accept that pain) just makes it all fun. i haven't been out of my house for a week. the doctors tell me there's not a whole buch to do for the nerve but heat, ice and rest and then some physical therapy. but there will be no therapy until i can get the shoulder back to right.
i'm getting scared. i fear my girfriend may kill me soon. i am becoming more of a dick than usual and almost killed myself on saturday when she got to go play in a tournament and i got to writhe in pain on the couch getting my self caught up on showtime's "dexter". which on a side note is an excellent show.
on a good note i have three paid in full lessons waiting for me when i can play again.

i have never played better..... my buddy PVC LOU gave me a few pointers on my game and man have i been shooting great...well for me..i thank him for help and the ability to get over the mental hump....I REALLY JUST CANT GET ENOUGH OF PLAYING ONE POCKET....

Very good on your game is better than ever! Tattoo...

That is wonderful about your game has never been better than it is in 2011. You are the first person on AZB that said that about your game. I am very glad to hear that. I appreciate your response too. PVC Lou must be a great teacher! This is what I want to hear about people games going well in 2011. I am really trying to find out how the AZB people games are going for 2011, and what their goals are for their game in 2011.

Thanks. good luck on your love for One Pocket. And your One Pocket game!

pvc lou is not so much a teacher just a playing partner....however he is very keen to what people do and was able to give me a few tips in stance and stroke....confidence is super high.....:D

Tattoo, that is what helped your game so much!

Shooting partner, hitting balls, all of those things help your game. And if your shooting partner's game is better than yours, that is a plus with help. Stance and stroke makes a big difference when it is good. Last but not least is your super high self confidence. These are all required to make a good pool shooter! Awesome combo!!! I appreciate your response. Thanks and good luck to, although I doubt if you need any luck!

My hat is off to you Big Arm,
That 5X10 table is the same size Johnny Archer is going to play another pro player on. Playing 9 ball and straight pool on I think! That is a very large table. When you do master it your game will have to be great! Good luck on your snooker game moving up a level or two. I appreciate hearing from you again. Thanks. Let me know how you make out? More to move the table than you paid for the table!! Love of the game.

Hello Jason,
please do not let your girlfriend kill you! And hurry up and get well with your shoulder! We need you on AZB, so do not let anything keep you down. I hope you can improve your game in 2011? Be nice to your girlfriend! Let me know how you make out as far as getting well, and your pool game! I appreciate your response. Thanks.

I was gonna whine about how bad I suck, but I guess I could have it worse than I do, so I am gonna shut-up and take it.

Black-Balled, You can whine about your game if you would like to!

I was gonna whine about how bad I suck, but I guess I could have it worse than I do, so I am gonna shut-up and take it.

Hello Black-Balled,
Even if you can't make a ball you can talk about it here. Don't feel bad though, I make a super bank shot playing One Hole the other night, the guy I was playing said man what a shot! Yes indeed, I was feeling good about the shot! but, it was in his pocket! Now that is what I call bad! Remember no matter how bad you suck, somebody is worst than you!

Now, are you going to improve your game in 2011? What are your plans for your game in 2011? Come on now you can talk about it! Appreciate your response. Thanks.

Lock N Load.

Hello everyone,
I was sitting here wondering how many pool players on AZB, games were going? Has your kicks improved! Is your banks getting where you want them to be? How is your cue ball control going in 2011? Position on the next ball? Cut shots? How are your breaks going? I hope everyone is happy with their pool game improvements for 2011! If you are having a problem with some shots, I would love to hear about that as well!

My goal for my pool game in 2011 is to get my kicking and banking where I want it to be! I will also hit balls a lot more this years, It keeps my stroke up.
This post is to find out how you are improving your game for 2011. Thanks for your input.
