While I can appreciate all the time, thought, and effort that went it's construction, that's one ugly cue!

Rodney----sure I'm in the minority

"Ugly Art" to some is Great Art to others, i.e., Pablo Picasso. The artistic creations of Richard Black stand alone in the cue world--more of an Artist than a cue maker, distinct and different from other premier cuemakers such as Tony Scianella of Black Boar, Bob Manzino, Bill Schick, Paul Mottey, Joel Hercek, and others--younger & older. Whether we like/love Richard's cue designs, or we don't, we surely can appreciate his efforts and talent. This Venetian cue says "Richard Black" to me, Paul Del Giudice "PVD1"

Like Richard said at the ICCS... "People ask me where I get the ideas for my designs... I tell'em Vodka bottle!" LOL! True story...

That is a great cue, and the case is just as impressive. Seeing that cue in person will put a different perspective on it... trust me...

Not really my cup of tea but I can appreciate the hard work and planning that must have went into that cue.. I'd love to see some of the other masterpieces from the ICCS.

Richard did a really spectacular job wih this cue.. deserves all the recognition he receives...

I had the opportunity to see all of the cues he took with him to the show in his shop. He asked me to pick my favorite, and it wasn't this one! There is more work in this cue than in any other I have ever seen in person. And the case is phenomenal as well. Every time I go to his shop I see something new in a cue that I have never seen before. With all of the designs out there to compare them to, that is saying a lot for his artisitic ability. It is one thing to think of a design. It is another to actually execute it on basically a wooden rod!

It's nice to see a players cue win for a change.
In response to the people who think the cue is ugly, maybe is just needs a wrap.

Richard told me at the show this cue took 7 solid months to build. This cue in person is so sickening I can see why. He deserved winning at the ICCS hands down and there were some monsters there.

I don't think its ugly, more like gaudy. I love the design on the Butt Sleeve but the rest seems a bit too much. I like a simpler design but I am sure there are quite a few people who will love this. I'd love to own it but I am almost positive I wouldn't be willing to pay for what its worth.

Excellent workmanship without a doubt!

Hold up! Just let me reach into my pocket and take out my $20K....

well that would almot get the case! there is over 2000 inlays in this beauty, and the case has premier curly koa and loads of silver
the cue and case is well over 100k

For all that work and beautiful materials... I'm somehow reminded of those 5 piece cues one could get from KMart years ago. Sorry.

You guys are brutal! Guess this should have been a for sale thread to avoid the critiques.

Richard always brings something to the party that sparks conversation that's for sure. I am so bummed that I missed the show and all the awesome cues. I'd really like to see Andy Gilbert's cue that won the collector's choice award.

Also, I honestly do not think that any pictures could capture this cue. The pictures probably don't help at all. I can tell you from seeing pictures of Richard's other cues and seeing them in person the reaction is dramatically different.

out of aprox 60 of the best cues on the planet, this cue got picked by the people as the best cue. in a line up of the worlds finest!
