ICCS Show, tip my hat!

So i went to my first ICCS this past weekend and it was great. The cues where amazing. All the cue makers there were great. Easy and willing to talk to you, take a picture here and there.

The cue collectors were great too. There collections were amazing, so many to see. They were swapping out cues every few hours. One cue after another, there were so many "10's".

Now to tip my hat;

Bob Price has a party at his house and let me tell you, this man knows how to party. Food and drink everywhere, cues, collectors, cue makers, and world champion Nick Varner playing all comers in 1pk.

Thanks Bob for all your hard work, the party was great. You and your wonderful wife put on a excellent party and your home beautiful.


Will Prout, what can I say here. You did such an excellent job putting this entire thing together. Will was everywhere, he made sure everyone was having a good time. And the speech he gave during the awards show was the best. Everyone was talking about it afterwards, all were stating it was the best awards banquet to date.

Thanks again Will and Bob.

I can't wait to go next year!

Yes, the show was great!

I saw a couple cues that I had seen in photos dating back to 1994 when John Wright was mailing them to me and I had only previously seen one Bushka and one Szamboti before the show. Now I have seen a bunch!

Everyone was very enthusiastic and friendly and I was star-struck within the first five minutes when I noticed the guy looking at cues right next to me was none other than Nick Varner!

I have a couple of comments, one of which is that the displaying of the Grand Collection and voting was not as organized as it should have been. Some cues were not up while voting was in progress. John Showman got in after about 50% of the voting was complete.

Plus, it might be better to divide the Grand Collection into multiple categories: Traditional, Artistic, and Historical. Historical could be displays of cues along with their stories, what player owned them, etc.

I think the organizers also should have, at a minimum, asked the paying public to sign a guest list that would provide an e-mail address for notices regarding future shows.

It appears that advertising was mostly word-of-mouth and could have been more aggressive.

Had a nice time visiting with Richard Black, who presented some very high-end cues, and really enjoyed John Bender, a guy that truly loves talking everything CUES!

Great show, great cues, great time! I will post photos when I have a chance.
 
Great show for sure. Lots of nice cues even though I'm not a "functional art" kind of guy.

Highlight was the hot maid that came to the room to turn down my bed. There were several of us in there at the time and I though they hired a stripper to play a joke on me. Turned out she was just a hot maid.

I too would like to thank Will Prout, Tom Watters and Bob Price for putting on a great show. I truly enjoyed this event. This is now my third and they get better every year.

Someone was looking for you and I didn't even know you were there. :-)

Maybe we need name badges for the show.

I also would like to give up a big round of applause for for Will and Tom and Bob and Andy and everyone else who worked on the show to make it happen.

I am sure that with this first one under their belts the future shows will get better and better and fulfill the goal of being the best cue show out there.

To me it already is and I am humbled by the talent on display.

Can't wait for next year.
