ID Cue

Greetings, I was given this cue by a friend who's father passed away, it belonged to him. I am trying to learn something about it, all I know is that it was hand crafted by a small company in Western Washington. There is a signature on the cue, it is hard to read but looks like Wethand or Wethered. I have included some pics, Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is that the connecting pin sticking out the shaft or is that a maintenance arbor you screwed in there ??

That's really cool, nice looking cue in great shape. How does it play?
Here's an excerpt from the patent...

"I have now invented, and disclose herein, a novel system for providing a cue stick joint, and which does not have the drawbacks common to those somewhat similar products heretofore used of which I am aware. Unlike the earlier designs, my product is simple, lightweight, relatively inexpensive and easy to manufacture, and otherwise superior to those designs heretofore used or proposed. In addition, it provides a significant, additional measure of ease in interchanging various cue stick shaft portions with cue stick handle portions." ...and much more...

also...welcome to azb!

Mr Wethered was a master machinist that came up with his unique joint and replaceable screw on tip and ferrule system. He also built some pretty nice cues.

I have only played with it once, don't really play anymore. This cue is sitting in my living room. Apparently Mr. Wethered is no longer building cues? Is there a pool cue museum or something I could donate this to? I have absolutely no use for it, and something hand crafted seems to me it should be appreciated somewhere. Otherwise its going in the attic where it will probably sit till I die and my son cleans out the attic lol

Cue joint

Really cool idea and looks like a great cue the only problem I would see is finding a case tall enough for that long pin :D If you cant find a museum or place to showcase this cue let me know and I would be interested in purchasing the cue
Thanks
Brett

Nineballer, it has its own case, you can see it in second pic. How does one ship pool cues. I am guessing its about 3 feet long? are there special boxes for them?

Office Depot sells tubes that work best.
