Idea for AZ

Perhaps I'm out-of-line, I just had a though pop into my head, There are an endless stream of how should I have played this shot, speed control, are lessions worth it, will talc ruin my cue Threads, While none of these questions are wrong, and I occasionally answere them if I have time, etc. thats why were here.

But here is my problem there is so many of these questions I know they cant and shouldnt be stickiys or FAQ's because things change, but it would be nice to have a begginers only or I want to learn forum, It wuld be cool to have a forum for players-people who 99% of the questions asked answered, then there could be more discussion about promoting pool, war stories, etc, Just a thought,

what are your thoughts? i know to many forums can dilute a commununity,I have seen that happen to one board now with over 80 forums, 10 years ago we had one, when we had 20-25 things were great and there was a nice sence of community.

I feel if this was done there would be more retention of stronger players, Billy created an account, there are others I PM with with 0 Posts. And the people with read only access will learn alot,

what are your thoughts, i'm only presenting this idea to make AZ even better, this is not a knock against AZ or any member, we got a good thing going here,

I'd like to see conversations of peoiple who arnt asking if chalk is bad for my shaft, and particapate in them, it could be read only for beginners and read/write for players and access to write would be word of mouth from other members, i'm getting tired of sifting through threads to read Jay, JAM, Grady, and lots of other strong players or guys like my friend Bill Porter who has a wonderful picture collectiuon and knows the game/players but isnt a champion.

Let's think about it............

If we have a forum for beginners, they will go there and ask their questions. If they post their questions in a "Beginners" forum, the answers would come from beginners! The only reason anyone of us, who have been playing for a while, would go over there would be if we wanted to go and answer questions for the beginners. I would rather they have their questions put on this forum and have "Experienced Players" answer the questions with their "Experiences" so that everyone will be enlightened.

Good point. It's hard to be a community when we're always segmenting ourselves.

good idea

A knowledge base would be good. topics that come up here
could be moved there if and when they've been determined to
be useful to beginners.

I really think there should be a seperate group for learning
different aspects of the game, in all it's disciplines, and
for equipment reviews and discussions.

I do have to admit, though - there is a TON of garbage in the main forum lately. It's a bit annoying to sift through it all.

It's a matter of preference, I find the "how do I play this" threads to be the most interesting ones, and the zillion threads on different cues to be boring. No offense to people who like those threads though, again it's just down to preference. People are here for different reasons.

I think it's pretty easy to avoid the threads you don't like, just read the title. It doesn't even take extra clicks to avoid them, just a half second of skimming over the topics with your eyeballs. It's better if a few people need to skim a little more carefully vs. guys like me having to do several extra clicks to read an extra "help the noobs" forum.

Besides, you know they'll ignore the faq and just post their question in this forum anyway

I dunno if this will help you, but it makes getting through forums a lot faster for me... I just set my browser so that when I press shift+click, it opens in a new tab, then I just shift+click all the topics that look interesting on a page (and I set it to show as many per page as possible). Then when I'm done with the threads I wanted I just close them one by one. I think it saves a lot of irritation and backtracking and scrolling to do it this way.
