identify this brunswick?

this is being advertised as a 25 yr old brunswick. anyone know what model and if it is slate. i wanted a 9 ft table but i may settle for this 8 footer. i can always practice at home on an 8 footer and play at the "hall" on 9 footers, right?

I can't identify the table but I'll give you some friendly advice - if you are at all serious about your game and you have room for a 9 footer don't buy this table. Keep looking and you will find a 9 footer. I have an old AMF 9 footer in my basement. It's not really worth anything but I wouldn't trade it for the best 8 foot table in the world.

oldplayer...I'll take the devil's advocate side here. I think it is a slate table, albeit one of Brunswick's 'furniture style' ones. If it is indeed 1 1/4" slate it will be HEAVY. If it is set up, and not too far from you, take a ride and check it out. It should not move much, if at all, when you lean against it. Test the rails by shooting a ball up and down the table longways and cross ways. It should go up and down twice (4 rails) both ways, if the cushions are still good. If it's a good price ($500 or less), go ahead and buy it. You can always get your money back out of it later. Remember, you can disassemble it and move it yourself, but you should invest in a good mechanic to set it back up. Mark Gregory is the best in your area (Atlanta).

I can't argue with what Scott said so I guess I should clarify what I meant. I'm sure a lot of guys take their games seriously and have either a bar box or an eight footer in their homes. I guess it all depends on what you want out of your game. A lot of people just don't have room for the 9 footer.

But if you have any desire to play well on 9 foot tables and you have enough room for one I still think you should hold out for the niner.
