If I give someone the last 3 in 9 ball...

It is a fair assumption that he is a lower skilled player...my comment was a little straight forward but true. Since he responded he'll give me the last 3 I said I was close to disney...I believe we were both joking up to this point...that's all...as for you sir I never offered the last 3 but I'll play even anytime...diamond pro cut or I also have a Brunswick bucket table...let me know if you want to meet mickey

I always love to play, where are you from, Florida? Its amazing how difficult it can be to find people who want to play even for fun.

Apparently, this question needed to be asked. There are two responses that really need to be deleted.

Black-balled has it right.

Freddie <~~~ can't win with the last three

I appreciate the answer. I always thought the last three was a stronger spot then the 789 but now I know it's a weaker spot!

As you can tell, I don't gamble, or match up, often.

Exactly. The last 3 is the last 3 regardless of ball number.
Say you break in the 7 and 8.The last 3 would be the 5--6-9.
He wins if he sinks the 5 or 6.

I figured everyone would know that you have to pocket the 1 to 4 in order then the 5-6-9 are the money balls.
I did not think out my first answer very well. So to sum up
It's the last f##king 3 balls on the table but you must still shoot them in numerical order.

I gamble even less than that, but I'd be curious about the consensus on this issue. I mean the 7,8,9 allows you to make early combinations for the victory, but also means that your "extra" money balls can be made early by your opponent. Which one is better in the long run?

Does it depend on the players involved (say if the player getting the spot is good a combos and caroms)?

The 7,8,9 is a MUCH STRONGER spot than the last 3 EVERY TIME.

So if there are only 3 balls 7,8,9 left Can I play the 7-8 combo and win ? Or I still have to shoot the 7 after the combo?

BB said it best.

When there are 3 balls left they are all $$$ balls, any one of them wins. In essence they are all 9 balls.

Sweet! Then I can shoot at any of the last three to win? IN! who wants the give me the "last three"?

Yes... if they make the 7 then they automatically win that game as long as they don't scratch or commit any other fouls and they also pocket 6 more balls on that same shot.

No, giving the last 3 as a spot (in 9 ball for example), is not the same as giving the 7 out (the 7 and the 8). Giving the 7 out (in 9 ball) is a bigger spot in my opinion (for this reason), because the 7, 8, and 9 are all game winning balls (that can be made in a combo shot to end the game). Giving someone the last 3 (in 9 or 10 ball) just means that if they make one of the very last 3 balls on the table (in a legal shot), then they win the game.
