If I order a shaft partial

Absolutely love this cue.

Is it already at the typical taper the shaft would come at or is the taper left unfinished for the cuemaker to finish?

I want to order an ob2 blank to have finished for a cue I just got but would like to retain the same ob2 taper that my other one has rather a new taper.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I've never ordered a blank so I just don't know...

Can you post picture of it when you get it? I was thinking about getting a classic pro for my sneaky pete, but I don't want to to get an unfinished shaft if it already has a logo on it.

On Predator partials, they are completely ready to go from the tip to about the last few inches of the shaft. They are 30" long and the joint diameter is oversize. The cuemaker can cut it to 29" or leave it longer, and install the appropriate joint and collar, then apply the finish. The logo comes with the shaft but its not installed to it. So the cuemaker can leave it on or off, depending on what the customer wants.

I've also had McDermott I-3 partial shafts and they were the same way.

I know this is not the brand you are looking at, but there is a good chance it's similar.

I just had an OB 2 Classic Pro shaft partial put on my Willie Hoppe. It is just the end that is not completed, so the cue maker you chose can drill it out to match your pin, add the collar, and/or add a ring if you want.

The taper is NOT affected.... it's the exact same.......just you get a nice custom fit on your cue... just cause a shaft has the same pin, does not mean the diameter is the same, and it looks like crap when the diameter is off imho, thus your cuemaker is gonna fit it perfectly !!

Is there already a "finish" on the end of the shaft? The first four or so inches where it's glossy normally.

The color of the sneakys maple doesn't match up with my other OB2 shaft so I was wondering if there was a way he could work around this somehow but probably not...

No, partials don't have a finish on the last few inches. They can't, because they are larger diameter the last few inches, and the cuemaker has to turn them to a diameter to match your butt. So if a finish were applied it would be for nothing.

The stroking area of a partial is generally finished exactly how their full shafts are. Same taper, same tip, same diameter, and same burnishing/sealing operations.

There is no finsh on any of the shafts, except some makers wax them.

The partials come a few inches longer on the joint side - everything else is ready to go. They include a loose decal and I suggest you use it - keeps the value if you decide to resell.

I assume the OB's are darker than your standard shafts - you can ask Royce if he has any lighter color partials in stock.
