If I was Mark Wilson... (mosconi strategy)

It's not even strictly who's more talented because that can be difficult to define. If the Mosconi Cup was an event where it was a player's A game vs. their opponent's A game -- I think we might even be the favorite. It doesn't get any better than SVB's best. Rodney's A game is still ridiculous and when Bergman and Dechaine get it going -- they can be hard to slow down. Unfortunately, because of the short races and the high tension the Mosconi Cup is about a player's B game. That's were we get beat every year. I do think there's a wildcard on the European team this year who may have a hard time playing his B game under the lights. So maybe the door will be cracked open just a bit and if so maybe the U.S. and their A games will come crashing through.

None of the above. Let them practice their defense and kicking, which is the area in which we fail year after year, in particular in the last two years.

Hit the nail on the head here. There was at least two matches USA lost last year due to Europe kicking and playing safes better.

I agree with this. I think the US teams top gear is as good or better than anybodies. But it's when they can't quite catch that gear that their performance drops off more significantly than the Euros who can fall back on some rock-solid fundamentals.

If I was mark I would scrap the whole thing. Put some of those fearless kids in, take 'em on a fun trip and help them pay off some tuition. What do we really have to lose. Plus think of the p.r. for pool!
