If you could afford any cue makers cue who's cue would you buy for your everyday cue

If we are talking strictly for PLAYABILITY (no resale), then I DON'T care who makes my cue as long as it is good quality and plays well.

I've played with numerous high-dollar cues by famous makers and had a couple made for me by Richard Black way back in the 70s. One of them I shot some of the best pool in my life with and the second one I didn't like so much.

Over the years I've hit balls with lots of fancy cues, but the only cues that impress me are the ones that "I" feel have the best "hit" for "ME".

I don't care who made it, how much it costs, or what it looks like if I like it's "hit" for "ME".

I'm in search of the "Holy Grail" in "hit"...NOT "look" "price", or "signature line".

Deceased - George Balabushka. I already have all the players I need, Scruggs, Black, and the best of the currents, Jerry Rauenzahn.

True story, I have a 59" R Black that plays amazing!!! The other 2....(58")not so much

Just so there's no confusion... Ted harris, (current), John Showman-(in my bag)Dennis Searing(in my future) unfortunately I had an ex that cost me 11Searings, 2 Haleys, and 10yrs of my life.
you can't go wrong with any of these guys T Harris, Showman, Searing, Haley. If you wanna hit a ball or 3 and you're around Bmore, let me know. If you have a Mobey I'd like to take a swing or 2. As far as Pete T is concerned, I met him and his son, I just gotta follow through to get a classic timeless player that everybody will love (that's what Pete does)

Diveney

I am far from an expert at judging the "best cue". My playing cue is a Pat Diveney Custom ebony Hustler with his Lake Salvage shaft. Love that cue. I am picking up a Diveney Custom Cocobolo Hustler from the PO tomorrow. Same specs just coco instead of ebony. So a week from now it may be my favorite player! I see no reason to switch from a Diveney playing cue.

I already have the best....my wife bought me my Brunswick GC5 anniversary edition for xmas last year.... I still love it!

Hard to put it on just one.

When I get my Searing that will be my last switch of cues.

If I don't I'd love to have Eric Crisp finally make me a cue. I'd be THRILLED.

Well, I own a Tascarella that I can't afford (but I own it anyways) and for me there's nothing I'd rather have. But just for the heck of it, I guess just a fancier hoppe style Tasc or a Searing just to see what all the hullabaloo is about.

Gilbert

I gotta say, I bought a nice custom cue from Andy Gilbert. He made it *exactly * to my specs. I am a very picky and discerning bastard. I like *exactly* what I like. My mom helped me create my cue in Photoshop. Andy basically made exactly that, and offered some of his own signature type suggestions. I LOVE MY CUE SO MUCH. Andy was a true pleasure to deal with, has been extremely nice and like a friend ever since first talking to him, was *very* reasonably priced, did the work in a fairly quick time period...what else can you really ask for? Oh yeah...the cue plays jam up and is perfect for me and my game.

so...

ANDY GILBERT

For playability, there is no question in my mind who I would pick here, Pete Ohman....I shot 1 ball with a custom sneaky-pete of his at his booth in Valley Forge way back when and instantly ordered a custom 8pt cue from him on the spot...Yeah, it hit THAT good...I have another one coming in a few weeks that has been a couple of years in the making and it should be on par with that 8 pt'er as far as looks goes, maybe even better...
