If you could design and build a better pool cue case what would you want

I thought of this before, but to have the look of say a Justis case, you would need to have different covers and bottom plates, and an adjustable body via removable sections to reduce the diameter of the body .. velcro could be used for the removable sections. Snaps on both sides of the case cover can be used to remove the cover and replace with the a difference size cover

......then again I would rather grab the other case instead :D

My idea of the perfect case would be...remember, this is MY idea...the multi-configurable case.

Most of the leather cases out there start off with an outer shell (PVC) that is then covered in a customer's choice of leather (tooled or non-tooled). My idea would be to then make inner inserts with different storage configurations. Basically, as the owner's needs changed, the interior inserts could change as well.....let's say that you need a 3x6 config for a tournament, but the case is currently set up for say, a 2x3. You would be able to simply pull out the 2x3 insert, and replace it with the 3x6 insert that you purchased separately.....now you want to go light...replace with a 1x2 insert.

One case with multiple configuration options would be the ideal cue case, IMHO. I may have to noodle with this idea. :)

I have said this before on other boards but I would love to find a modern looking design that's minimalistic using carbon fiber, leather and aluminum. Like modern sports car interiors (like in my Audi S4). I'm not into the tooled leather saddle bag look.
That is a damn good idea. Carbon fiber shell with black leather covering, brushed aluminum hardware. If a guy could make one for less than $2K he would have a winner. Figure out a substitute for the expensive carbon fiber and you would really have the nuts. Something like a Whitten/Thomas hybrid, only as light as an It's George.

i had an idea for pocket to hold a small pistol, make it hideable in plain site but easy to access.......i talked to a couple of custom case makers and they said it looked doable. So i would want that, plus more pockets or some type of large pocket with dividers.....i hate having to unzip a pocket and then play grab bag until i find what im looking for.

I have made cases with hidden pockets. And one time I had a guy come into the booth and take me off to the side so he could see if his gun would fit into the upper pocket and be easy to get out. It was and he bought the case.

One time the customer asked me to make a hidden compartment to hold about a kilo of sugar....... I did and the only way to know it was there was by x-ray.

My idea of a perfect Cue Case would be one made of Leather like Jack Justis, or Jim Murnak use. As this vegetable tanned leather, or tooling leather last a long time, and looks better with age.

2 x 4 configuration with tubes to add protection to cue butts, and shafts.

Spring bottom like Dan Whitten uses, so my Butts, or Shaft bounce up.

Jump Butt Compartment that is easy to get my JB in and out of.

Deep wide pockets that are easily accessed to put stuff in, or get stuff out of.

Top Handle, Side Handle, and Carry Strap that can be tucked away like Jack Justis does with his cases.

Zipper that do not wear out, and will take abuse. Two of my old cases made it to the dumpster because of CHEAP Zippers.

Butt or Shaft Capacity of 32.0?, and spacersin the Tubes to raise and lower case bottom.

Cross between a Murnak, Justis, Instroke, Whitten, Nittany Leather, and John Barton utilizing the best features of each.

Am I a dreaming...

A JB case is a cross between all those and more. email me.

I have bought and sold about 5 pool cue cases over the years, and wish someone would build a truly custom pool cue case to a customers specification. Allowing the customer could combine the features from any case to build the case they wanted.

If this case builder existed what feature would you want in your custom case?

something light,,,something tasteful.
and you can start by eliminating all those metal studs. i thought they only put those under chair legs and on denim jackets in las vegas.

Whitten was "willing" to do everything I wanted.

Extra large custom pocket for carrying Billiard Balls he added a special foam insert to protect the balls, Another pocket for stuff, and an oversize butt tube to accomodate the rubber grip I use.

Lots of options in the link below, mines in the middle named "Ball Pouch"

I used to do the same things on the Carom cases I built. I also did a custom ball pouch for Mike Massey for his trick balls.

I built a 4x9 once and that sucker was HEAVY with the 50mm tubes. But the customer loved it.

Something tells me he wasn't concerned about hiding sugar!!!! LMAO

there are some awesome awesome ideas here.........only bad part is i want about 1/2 of them in my new case, that would be what, $5000 or $6000 lol

FEATURES?
*Something that will keep the cues at room temperature even when left in the dessert or snow. Must also also be able to remove moisture.
*Very light & portable yet very sturdy. May have wheels that can pop out with a push of a button like those in air planes so that you can just pull it if you're tired of carrying it. Can stand on its own & serve as a cue holder, must be sturdy enough so that it can't be knocked-off.
*The holes should make the cues immovable once inside
*Something that'll push the cues up or down only when you need them.
*Shock proof
*It should be able to keep the cues straight even when stored for years
*With security lock, GPS, & remote alarm notification

hmmm... I think this will be battery operated :D

EXTERIOR
*Sleek yet elegant casing. Something more modern perhaps carbon fiber
*Pockets/compartments that swing like glove compartments :D

hmmm....

i need a case that i can leave in the car under the sun for about 8 hours and the internal temperature will not change.

Cue Case

I agree that better options for carrying a full set of pool balls is needed.

What about a couple of wheel spinners on the side, with an "ON/OFF" key switch, and blue neon light on the bottom. Adder on for curb feelers. Adder for antennas that are not hooked up to anything.

There is no perfect pool cue case imho. But I do like how a Jack Justis Case closes the main compartment to the butts, and shafts. Seem that closing system is being copied by many case makers.

I've always had a dream of having one made out of a baby panda bear. You could open his mouth to put the cues in and his legs would be accessory compartments. His left eye would be a scuffer and his right eye would be a shaper
Jake your a monster! Don:eek:

A lightweight 2x2, with at least a 20 inch pouch. No shoulder strap, just a handle. Something that would protect my cues, but not be too heavy.
