If you don't Sign, or Engrave a Logo on your Cues

Why not, one Cuemaker who does not is our own Bryan mordt. He does nothing to say, or identify his Cues. I do not understand why.

noticed recently Jeff Olney has gone from the big ONLEY on the buut Cap to an engraved OLNEY on the Weight Bolt...:boring2:
 
Because of my good safety play in snooker, I acquired the nickname "BLACK HEART". When I started making Qs in 1986, people referred to them as "THOSE BLACK HEART CUES". Soon after, my wife suggested that I use a black heart, as my logo. I've put that black heart on all of them since, but never signed any, with my name...JER

Nice JER I love to see that kind of stuff.

Rocket man was a nickname in High school and it kind of stuck.
Rocker as a last name. I sign every one of the cues that go out the door because I am proud to have my name on it. If I am not it gets chopped up for very expensive fire starter.... I try to make the signature blend in some place. I don't always sign in the same place. You gotts ta look for it...

To each their own I say...
 
ugly signature

i use ink that can only be seen under a ultraviolet light. i put it under the finish. if the cue is ever stolen or misplaced most of the time only the owner knows the signature is there and can indentify the cue. chuck

I debated with myself for quite a while about the issue of identifying my work. I feel the customer that spends many hundreds to thousands of $$$$ deserves more than a scrawled signature. Yes, I know paintings have been done this way for centuries. Many though, hide their signature purposefully so as not to detract from their art.
The only problem with cues is the ease of removal of a signature. I thought about engraving a logo and liked that more since the logo removal would prove to a wary customer that sabotage had been done. I didn't have the funds or engraver available so I settled on a laser engraved sterling silver disc inlayed in the buttcap. If someone wants to remove it they have to cut off the buttcap which I cannot control. The disc is more subtle than an ugly signature and adds a classy touch for the custom cue someone spends good money for.
Just my way of doing things.
