Mine doesn't since I made sure a house with a pool table was part of the deal before I married her 26 years ago!
As to whether to or not to, I'd go WITH the home table. One of the best stress relievers you can have after a hard day at work.... add in a good drink, and some nice tunes and you're all set.

Your last line is correct. I have had a table since I was a kid, I never had a house that didn't have a table.
The best practice is when you just get the urge to play. When you are at the pool room you may not even really feel like playing but feel you have to as long as you are there just to get some time in. You could play for an hour or two and it not be productive at all because you are not in the mood.
On the other hand when you have your own table you can play when ever you feel like it. You may get up like you say in the middle of the night and put in a good practice session. Practice is best done when you are in the mood and you never know when that may be.
Exactly, not to mention, when I am watching an Accu-stats vid and see a great shot (mostly from Efren!)......I run down to my table and reproduce it. You just can't put a value on that.
On a similar note to this thread.....I have a 9foot black n chrome GC4 copy in my basement now.....AND, I bought a 10foot GC 3c billiards table which is sitting in my basement next to the other table waiting to be assembled. Which one gets the nod in this circumstance?.....tough problem to have huh?

Joey , you deserve it .Build that room just for you and put a table there. If you don't want any smoking, it's your house your rules. What I like the most about having my own table at home is I control the environment.Some men spend thousands on hunting and fishing equipment and stay gone for weeks at a time .I guess my GC is my Ranger bass boat equivalent.

I'm glad you think I deserve it Matt. It's not really about deserving.
I'm just not sure it is something I actually want. On one hand, I see how many of the posters are passionate about having a table at home and I can truly understand that.
My situation is a little different than a lot of people. I have two pool rooms that are both pretty awesome in close proximity to my house. Buffalo Billiards and Lacy's Cue (Lacy's is about 30 minutes away but it is non-smoking and BRAND NEW) I'm pals with both owners and help them in their businesses and enjoy the atmosphere at both pool rooms. Each has their own ambiance and I like them both.
As to getting in stroke and sticking someone up, those days are over for me. I don't mind beating the hell out of someone but I would rather them know a little bit about what they are getting into before they step into the ring. I will probably never be much more than an amateur and that's ok too.
Many of the posters listed reasons for having a table at home and I would like a table at home for the same reasons I'm sure.
I don't like to waste money and building a $25-$35K room just to play pool seems a little extravagant and maybe even wasteful because I fear that I might get bored with having the table in a separate building, having to wait for the building to become environmentally appreciative each time I use it. I might go for days or weeks without using it. You know how many tournaments we have in our area and it might just turn out to be nothing more than a white elephant.
Believe me, I share the passion for pool and even a table at home as much as those who have posted in this forum. I'm just not sure I would use it enough to justify the expense.

I think so much depends on the specifics of the nearby poolroom and your personal life. In my 20s and 30s, I would say no. I wouldn't bother because I'm going to the poolroom anyway and besides, I didn't have the money to do it right. Now, in my 40s with a little more cash in my pocket, a wife and hopefully a baby one day, I see no other choice.
To add to my reasons, NYC poolrooms fall into two categories for me. Either they're absurdly crowded or far. Getting one hour of practice in often means traveling one hour OR waiting for a table for one hour and, I don't often have more than an hour or two to practice during the week. Even worse, there are nights the wait for a table could take 2 or 3 hours.
In my opinion, if you think you're going to find yourself going to the poolroom daily anyway, it's an extravagant purchase. Now, I'm not saying you shouldn't have a little extravagance in your life but if you're looking for a practical answer, the only practical reason for having a pool table is you're incapable of getting sufficient time at the table any other way.
