There is stuff to learn there. I always thought that I banked balls off the rails. What I really do is reflect balls off the borders.
I also learned about triangles. I thought the oversize ones that come with Diamond tables were good. Apparently they are too big, the ones I want to use are the cheap plastic ones you find in a dive bar with a beat up Valley, the kind that have no extra room so you can rack very tight. (maybe you are supposed to leave the triangle on when breaking, I saw no mention of preferred technique.
Last thing was the "Ram Shot". I heard of it but I did not realize that you were supposed to rush the table with the cue in a fixed position and attempt to stab the cue ball while running at full speed somehow. This I want to see someone attempt, not to mention the unfathomable power it produces.

This was the "ram-shot" guy, right?

For those who want to improve their games by incorporating the RAM shot, here's the skinny:

10. Ram shot (RS) – The most powerful type of shot. Stand about a meter away from the table but position the tip of the stick next to the white, just like you’re performing a direct shot. Then leap forward, run two short steps or slide towards the table, making the shot while your body is still moving. In other words, you’ll use your whole accelerated body mass to make the shot.

It will give unthinkable power to the white, but the chances of performing this technique without missing or sending the white off the table surface, unless you’re an experienced player, are rather low. Even if you manage to do the shot properly, the white can still be knocked off the table, possibly along with several other balls.

Using this technique anywhere outside the breaking move is extremely risky and definitely not recommended.

NOTE: When leaping forward, try to keep your stick in place and move only your body, as if you accidentally move or swing the stick while jumping/running/sliding, there’s no way your shot can be successful

I would guess a book where he has two credits.....Byrnes Standard Book of Pool
While that was probably the one I was thinking of, there are several books on the market that qualify. Of course the bar I set is not that high. If you follow any of those several instruction books and actually practice, you'll end up in the top 30,000 in the US.

So, bob. I have 30,000 posts.

I thought you should know.

D00D! You rule!:bow-down:

But can you do the RAM shot?

I saw the RAM shot performed once, tho we called it the 'Happy Gilmore'. Dude hit cueball, it flew off the table onto the next table (which was racked for 8-ball) and made a perfect break on that table.

We kicked him out.

The table diagram might be my favorite part.
The terminology is exceptionally accurate.

I could never figure out if that guy was for real or just trolling. The terminology he used though was hilarious.
