I'll Say What Many Are Already Thinking - Mosconi Cup, 2014

There is no team we could of fielded that could win in that venue

Anybody who has ever matched up out of town has seen worse environments. I've played guys where the whole room was pulling against me and the only thing I was afraid of was getting to the car safely with the cash. The fans were fine, nobody got sharked from a could "whoops!" while they were looking at the layouts. The table played easy, for everyone.

These guys just dogged it (except for Hall). SVB and Schmidt in particular looked terrified.

I thought you were talking about their players first of all second score means zero there's a little bit more involved mentally giving the 8 than you think lastly Mike has yet to prove his mental toughness ., 2 yrs ago he started in on a friend of mine Ryan McCressh at the Expo I went over and told Ryan to STFU Mike is getting ready to be you in 2 seconds Ryan a well known head case Mike and I had a few words he went to the table and dogged the next shot and lost it Ryan came back and beat him
I'm a pussy cat compared to what he would have faced their
Great player yes but his mental toughness is in serious doubt
He will deservenly get his chance but this was not the place for it

Mike can give your boy the 7 out and I will bet my house sir.

Ryan McCreash...now there's a class act

Mike belongs on the team, period.

2 horses of the same color ,, although if I had to pic one to play in that environment I would take Ryan everyday of the week but like u I dont have a pic when we get one we can choose who we want

Break from the box, tough equipment, winner breaks, probably one game on the wire going to 11. Justin is playing some wonderful pool right now and that's likely all he needs. FYI, he lost 11-9 to Mike at the US Open.

Like you, I think the world of Justin Hall, America's newest pool superstar.

Damn! Thought someone might get out of line:thumbup:

Bergman and Hall are about the same age and have known each other a long time. What do we know about their head-to-head results in the past? If they were to play a lot of sets of 9-ball or 10-ball now, who would we expect to prevail?

Who's your last 2

How do you know? Last Mosconi in England was in 2012. Archer went 6-0 in that one but nobody seemed to care when it came to this year's selections. We also have a guy who could spot seven of the Mosconi 8 in Dechaine but nobody seemed to care when it came to this year's selections. Mike has three straight top tens in the Derby City 9-ball and three straight Top tens in the US Open 9-ball.

We went to battle with a lot less than we might have. A team anchored by Shane, Mike and Johnny would have had a real shot.

I think SVB, Mike and Archer should have been on the team...who would be the other 2 players to complete the team that could have beaten the winning European team of 2014..which I don't think is the best team they could have had either. (Mika and Thorston in particular should have been on team europe).

I know you were responding to Stu but if I may offer my thought, too:

SVB, Mike, Johnny, Jeremy Sossei and Justin Hall would have been a more competitive group.

Nobody can say whether or not they would have won but they would have been better choices, imo.

There could be some question over whether Johnny is on a downturn in his career and capability but he never seemed to let the bright lights and chaos at MC break his focus as evidenced by his very impressive record at these.

I agree that the Euros would have been better with Thiorsten and either Ralf or Mika on their squad.

best,

First and foremost Johnny needs to be on the team imo.

He is a true leader and plays great in this format.

who are you - Fat albert???? yes, Johnny can flat-ass perform when his head's in it.

i heard that Earl got >1000 tweets from fans, begging him to come back, that the Cup was horrible and lacked heart & passion....

I would have paid $200 to have him commentate the match for me. He would have lost it on so many of the shot selections and poor executions.

How trivial. Mike is twice the player he was two years ago. And yes, he can spot a ball or more to anyone but Shane on the team with break box and tight equipment.

Actually, Mike drew two of the Mosconi 5 at the Steinway Classic in August. He didn't break a sweat, crushing Schmidt 9-4 and then beating Bergman 9-4. Mike also beat both Bergman and Hall at the US Open. These guys are not in Mike's league and they prove it over and over whenever they have to play him. Meanwhile, Mike went 2-0 against Shane this year, beating him at the Derby City 9-bal event and again at Turning Stone.

The one ignoring the facts is you.

tap tap tap, well put as usual
