I'll sleep when I'm dead

I don't have any health problems, of course, I'm only 66 years old. Besides I would take health problems over someone telling me how to live my life. As long as I don't require you to be there I don't figure it's any of your business.

When you're smoking near me it is my business, but we don't have to worry about that do we?

I'm sure we'd get along great otherwise - I'm not a fan of being told what to do either, but I do try to be considerate of others.

You and the other guy don't seem to understand, it's a smoker friendly establishment, if you don't like it you're not welcome go somewhere else. One of the features of this poolroom is cigars and their enjoyment and has been for over 20 years.

What's the name of the place, does it have a web site?

MMMMM, Ceegars.

I would fit in there just fine. I remember one of our old halls downtown when I was a kid. Hard wood floors that creaked under foot.

And the wonderful smell of cigar smoke from the night before.

I understand that completely, and that's why I don't play pool when I'm in chattanooga. Been to diamond plenty of times along with Chattanooga billiard club.
I no longer play at places that allow smoking, I actually quit playing completely for 3 yrs cause Florida allowed smoking.
I would probably make an exception occasionally if I wanted to hit balls with someone where smoking was allowed.
when I'm in Chatt again I would gladly meet you to play some and never mention the smoking thing, after all, I'd be the one that put myself there Lol. I also believe there is a room in the area that is non smoking - if memory serves me correctly.

I'm in Michigan right now, been playin at Ananzeh sands east the last 2 days and it's been awesome that the laws have changed. I grew up here(michigan) and you couldn't see the other side of most bars. Only 1 9' GC with championship on it but it's real fast and plays great! Other tables are 7 diamonds with a few valleys.

Anyway, look forward to hitting a few and maybe drinking a few with you if you're up for it next time I'm in town

Edit. Guess you're at CBC cause of the cigar thing :) only 1 9 footer there correct?

Yea by all means come to Tennessee.. I'm sure you'll get action, but if you don't like smoke then don't waste your time. The PR are like Bon Fires. I know tons of very good players that won't step foot in most places because you have to have a gas mask to play. Anybody that tries to argue the fact that smoking won't kill you is an idiot. Will it kill everybody, no. If you picked up a bottle of water and printed on the side of it was .....
"Warning: Drinking this water will greatly increase the probability of you dying of Cancer"
Would you drink it? Say yes you idiots. Makes me want to puke when I hear, smokers should have the right to smoke anywhere they want. Nobody has the right to put me or anyone else at risk of developing a nasty, gut wrenching, life stealing disease just because they believe it's their right to do so. And also, anybody that thinks there are more pool players that would choose to smoke in pool rooms versus those against it, you are terribly mistaken. Not even close. So do us all (or most of us) a favor and keep your filthy, nasty, disgusting habit to yourself.

Actually, it is the owners of the business that will tell you whether you have the right to smoke on their premises or not.

Just like it is your right not to spend money at a smoking establishment.

Just like, if I don't like water, and swimming. Spending my weekends at a beach is not a priority.

I'm allergic to smoke. But will sit in front of a camp fire for 4 hours.

I'm allergic to smoke. But will go thru a stressful time in life, and start smoking again.

I'm allergic to smoke. But will never turn down a joint passed to them. It's not the same, they say.

When our city went totally Non Smoking. Everything basically shut down for several months. The bars felt the crunch. A small pool hall owner could go under during that time, if they weren't prepared financially for it.

Smoking makes my clothes stink. Everything makes your clothes stink. Pooping makes your undies stink. I change my clothes regularly, and wash them. Just another lame excuse.

I'm allergic to ex smokers and whiners.

Terry - Ex smoker for 2 years now, but not a whiner. You can blow your smoke in my face. Doesn't bother me.

I play at CBC east, we have six 9 footers, 2 old diamonds and 4 gold crowns. The non-smoking room you mentioned went out of business due to poor management. Let me know if you get down this way maybe we can play a game or two. And I don't have to smoke while we play, I just don't like people who want to come to my house and tell me to change the way I live because they don't like it.

I'm sure we can have a good time, if you familiar with CBC you know it's a nice room.

This has always been my point, I don't complain if a place is non-smoking, it's their choice as it's their business. There should be enough room for all kinds of business in a country this size. And I won't blow smoke in your face, I have a few manners like I play with a group once a week who don't smoke so I hold off until they are gone.

we held tri cups this weekend at a room that changed to non smoking a few months ago.

my travel team plays there a few times a session. when he 1st went to non smoking the owner said his bussiness fell off some but so far he has managed to stay open. some times when our matches are held there i decide not to go simply because its my choice to not cater to a non smoking establishment.

smoking ..beer and pool seems to go together like peanut butter and jelly to me....you may differ though.

a lot of times after league we hang around just practicing..when we play there we pack up and to a bar down the road that allows smoking . if he allowed smoking we would stay there.

politicians may push there agenda to ban smoking at certain venues...its my perogative whether to spend my hard earned money at those venues or not.

seems so silly that smoking is more important than pool for some.. but addictions have that affect on some... it's too bad really, but hey, do what you gotta do. They can't do that in IL, cause the entire state is non smoking. And players on my team like it, cause guess what, they smoke less. Of course, they can still walk 25 feet and smoke if they want, but they do it less and less. Better for them, better for us, not good for Big Tobacco.

Kinda like that RJ. When we went total Non Smoking, I quit league for a bit. That wasn't the entire reason, but part of it. I had a lit smoke and my beer when I played.

If the smoke went out before my game was over, I lit another.

I have to admit, I still enjoy nice cigars, and will have a smoke or 2 on occasion. I find it quite pleasurable now that I can choose when I would like to have a smoke and when not.

A 20 pack will last me for a week or more. I buy the odd one, just cause I dislike bumming smokes.

In the one bar that I played a lot of pool in, the majority were smokers. If they had stopped coming entirely, and the bar had to rely on non smokers to keep them afloat, they would have went down the tubes within 3 months. Most likely sooner than later.

I heard one person say, good, now I can come to the bar. I asked them how much they frequent this place. Oh, a few times a year.

Sorry, a few times a year doesn't make huge profits for a bar.

Most smokers started coming back to the bars when the businesses built heated outside smoking areas for them. Dam cold in Canada to be smoking outside in the Winter. Heated areas are great.

Must be diff in other areas. In our pool hall, we LOST nobody in the league. We had 16 teams, and still had 16 teams after the smoking ban. Folks here like shooting pool more then they like to smoke.

Of course, they were free to walk 25 feet to get their fix, that is NOT asking a lot. I do that when I have to take a dump, as I don't believe folks want that by the tables either ;)
