I know it got confusing, but ONB is not SJD....I'd have to bet on that.
He knew some people in the Detroit area that I feel SJD would have no reason to know.
I like ONB's 'how would you play this?' threads and hope the ban is not for long.
Dick was actually born in Kitchener, Ontario....of American parents who were just visiting
at the time....his birth was registered in Detroit but he is actually eligible for dual citizenship....

Nothing wrong with you defending Fred, and yes, he could be very personable ! But comparing him to Fats, is a bit of a stretch !...Fats was an entertainer, and he KNEW he was BSing (and so did everyone else)..Freddy actually believed everything he said was "Gospool" !..When someone tripped him up..(which was often me) he would go berserk !
Having spent most of my life in a pool room, I have met hundreds of "Freddy's", some even worse at bragging, and self-promotion.. I just did not have time to develop my skills at tolerating them on the internet...Too old and cranky I guess ! (My fault...Sorry Fred !)

I watched Danny Jones when he was first starting out and he never dogged it.
Wimpy gave him the 8, in the old time push out 9ball right there at Big Town Billiards here in Atlanta. Wimpy won, but he sure had a tiger by the tail with Danny.
I always said Danny Jones was my favorite player and he didn't mind giving some of us younger guys tips.
The main one I remember was........."Use an open bridge on all shots except when you have to draw the cueball, or power hit a ball frozen to the rail...Then switch to the closed bridge..."

Excellent advice, (in bold)..Like everyone else, I always liked Danny too, hard guy not to like !...He, Shannon, and Ervelino, were some of the guys I thought deserved to be ahead of me. In fact I voted for him one year!..The consensus on 1P.org, was that Danny did not play that much one pocket !...I only played him 1P once, and I'll tell you, he was no day at the beach !

Another old "road agent whistle stop" in Atlanta
This was York's Pool Room in Atlanta. Another spot where they all stopped on the way through town.
Danny Jones ruled the roost in here before he went on the road and moved to Texas.
Billy Johnson would give out all the action anyone could handle here too. Although Billy eventually headquartered a few blocks away at The Cushion and Cue.
I never knew Billy very well, although I did get a piece in one of his 'corporations' once when Bernie "The Hawk" Schwartz came through.
We did pretty good and it seemed like Billy just couldn't miss. (this was way before that big time tournament where he shot a .1000 percentage tournament).

I believe that the main thing that got ONB Banned was that he called Jaden an Effing Idiot.

Hey Dub, ya stole my line. I guess that I am not the Lone Ranger then.
I won't be married after the end of this month so hopefully I can get used to at least being right once in a while.
Future singleness and seriously looking forward to a well earned Vacation.
The first thing that I am doing as a single kinda guy is hit the Western Canadians in Saskatoon in Feb.
Going to meet up with a Buddy from Edmonton that I haven't racked for for 2 years. Haha.
He ain't bringing his War Dept so it will be close to 24/7 pool for 4 days. Last time that I did singles at the Westerns, I placed 35th.
I got my entry fee and 2 beer outta the deal. I figured that was pretty good for approx 12 hrs of playing.
Yes, I forgot, cool pics. I love the old ones like that. Wish we could see the inside and some of the players.
Someone should now reserect that old thread with the tons of old Pool Hall pics.
My old Meucci is getting a new wrap. The old one was just starting to peel off and there was no longer anything that I could do to sustain it.
Black ebony points in a white fore arm and a fake ivory sleeve. All black is going to look nice. I was thinking on a Burgundy wrap as I have 2 burgundy leather ones but will wait.
She is prepped and twas taking a beer break.
