Hey All!

I'm back. Thanks so much for all the PM' s and emails I have received, I appreciate everyone's kindness. I really know who my friends are!

We took a week off after the Orlando Open to enjoy some of Florida. There was a red tide, so Bob didn't get much fishing in. Found a really quaint 50's style resort in Treasure Island that I would recommend to anyone.

I will have a update on the Orlando Open real soon, sorry I have been late getting the story out. Nick Tafoya 14 stole the show, he's a great kid and I will be doing a write up on him soon. He and his family are great people, I so enjoyed meeting them along with many other of the jr players. You will be seeing a lot of Nick in the coming years.

I really want to thank Daytona Joe who spent the entire time working the tournament table. He is the best, really great guy and an awesome friend. Marissa, what a sweetie, thank you so much too. Blackjack was there and raised over $700 for Vivian's charity, he is the best! So many others to thank and will do so appropriately soon.

It has been a couple of weeks now.
When can we expect your update on the Orlando Open.

Because of all of the heated discussion and conflicting views, I have been eagerly awaiting your version of what happened.

Were the problems the fault of Disney, poor planning on your part or just poor communication between the two sides?

There was no poor planning on Eydie's part. Disney is a blood-sucking corporation and I don't suggest anyone vacation or spend their money there.

Tell us how you really feel Marissa..., :)

I just spent the weekend at Coronado Springs this past weekend with my wife and five year old. My assessment of the place is that it is nice and roomie compared to the All-star resorts. The room was much bigger and we also really liked the food there compared to the other resorts. It was PRICEY. I got $99 a night which is not bad for a weekend night, but that was because I am a Florida resident. The food was EXPENSIVE however. We paid almost 45 for a breakfast buffet for the three of us. Darn good meal though. It was so filling we were able to skip lunch altogether. I paid 25 bucks the first night there for a 9 inch pizza and a six pack of Sprite. Altogether, we spent over 500 for meals and the hotel...and thats just for 2 days. This does NOT include the price of tickets to the parks. That was just in souvenirs of about 125 and meals and hotel. Disney is expensive...and the normal working class slob like me can barely afford it. It is impossible to do on a budget I think. I was sorry I was not able to make it over for the tournament...but with my kids starting school that Monday, it was just impossible. They were off yesterday cause of a teacher in service day. We decided to go because we had 2 days expiring on a three day pass...otherwise I would not have went. If you want a better bang for the buck, I recommend Universal Studios or SeaWorld. Much better attractions and more to see and do. Disney is just too expensive.

I strongly agree! What a damned rip-off that place is. I loved my family vacation to Florida and will do it again. Only difference is, Disney will not be part of the plan.

Eydie, I haven't heard anything, good or bad, but I'm sure the event was a success and it's good to have you back posting.

Regards,
Dave

I have like a 10 page vent going on over here about Disney and how poorly we all were treated. I am
trying to reduce it some before I post it. Hopefully I will have it done soon. Everything, charts and all are still packed up.

Again Daytona Joe ~ what a life saver! He is the best... what a great guy! But so many many other's had my back too, I am so greatful to have so many friends!

The Top winners of the event were as follows:

8 Ball Open
Jesse Bowman
Shawn Van Boen

8 Ball Woman's
Ellen Van Buren

9 Ball Open Mickey's event
Nick Tofoya 14 years He plaed real well, and I am going to do a feature story on him soon.
Bob Romano

9 Ball Donald
Josh Johnson
Stan Torango (Sp wrong sorry  )
Bob Romano

We raised several hundred dollars for Chris's wife Heide and son Spike. Daytona Joe donated $125.00 alone!

Got home here to Chicago to my 25 yr old daughter and 2 year old grandson who had moved into my house while we were gone. This is what has taken up most of my time since I have been home. It's been real interesting with a 2 year old here. Oh and BTW she is pregnant again too... UGH!

Mr. Potts ~ You asked me to "Take you off my mailing list over a year ago" Now you come on AZB and your first post is to me wanting me to send you results?

Thanks again all!

Eydie when you have the next one why not have it over in cocoa beach @ one of the hotels and call it the Dream of Jeanie Open. Those hotels are always dying for something to get tourism to the area and besides that it would probably be a hell of a lot cheaper. We have a good base of players here and I am sure the hotels would treat you better than disney did.

You've got a 25-year old daughter?!? You must've been a child bride.

I second Johnny's recommendation...and our hotels rarely get hit by storms! Seriously though, if you could get that POS place called Aurora Billiards involved, it would be an awesome tournament. They pretty much have the billiard market cornered here like a trap rat. They do have the best equipment and Cocoa Beach is always looking for events to host.
