I'm curious, how many racks have you run in a row(9-ball on 4.5x9 only)

What's your lifetime highest consecutive racks run amount on any 4.5x9?

My answer is 3.
On a side note, the highest number of breaks hit where a ball was pocketed and the CB stayed on the table... also 3!
Back when I played regularly my break was fawking terrible.

Over 50% of the respondents have ran 4 or more. If the same respondents answered the what is your ratining poll: A-E, I would think that there would be quite a bit less "A" players.

I'm a B player... But I have played for 25+ years... Statistically I think I should have had higher than a 7 but "thems the breaks".... And not just figuratively......

7 racks in a row in a tournament was my best. The bad thing was the match before that I could not make a ball. I remember the guy I had beat asking me how I could do that and what was I thinking about. I will never understand how that happened either. Consistently 3 to 4 on a Diamond BB now if its a good day :D I guess I am an A player in my area

What are you trying to say? Looks like this anonymous poll shows that AZB has plenty of stone cold pool killers on these boards. As of this writing, 51% of y'all have run 4 or more and have 36% have run 5 or more consecutively. Looks like 3 of you guys are about as good as Earl in his prime...

You have to remember that these are life-time high lights.
Although I'm surprised at the 10+ posts.

And the table the packs are run on is a big factor.

I know a guy who has had a 5-pack playing even for cash....he quit me
getting the 6-7-8.
He ran them on 5-inch pockets with Tournament 2000 by Granito...it plays
faster than Simonis 760.

So I tend to believe these posts mostly....

..gotta go now...I'm in the middle of a 1-pack.;)

Two for me. I'm not much of a 9-ball player. Although, I'm not much good at any other cue game, either.

Did any of you guys answering 10+, count matches where you got the wild six or something?

If 7 of you play that strong, and presumably it's not Earl logging in once every 10 years to vote... why is footage of a true 10-pack virtually nonexistant? Some of you guys should get on the camera. Hell, just treat us to a 10-pack vs. the ghost.

I'll vote after I've run a rack. Oh crap...it starts at 2!!! I guess I'll have to post later. sad0129.gif

Best,
Mike

These days I might be able to get ya a 10pack VS the ghost on a barbox in a week or 2... As long as I get to send ya the bill for the quarters

Sometimes it's a semantic problem...plus the OP could've been more specific.
Someone playing the ghost might call it a 'pack'....I had a guy tell me he threw
a 9-pack at someone...wth..I was watching the match...he beat him 9-in-a-row...
he broke and ran only twice.

I had a guy beat me 5-0 in a small local tourney and told everyone he stuck a 5 pack on me... It was made up of 3 on the break and a 1-9 combo and a 2-9 combo... Maybe there is something to different Semantics.....

I've never ran 8 or 9 and if I ever ran a 7 it was likely only once. 6's I've ran but those don't come often either. When you start getting to 4 plus it just doesn't happen that often, even for players who got the game to do it.

I'm talking normal rack, loser racks. Magic rack, pattern racking is another story and I'm not familiar enough with it to comment.

Another thing about my 10, was that it may have been a 9.5. I've always counted the first game you run out as 1 in the package regardless of who broke, but I think technically some only count the first one that you actually break and run out as 1. It was for sure though, one or the other.

Packages are no joke. 2 of the more impressive packages I've seen or heard about in recent times are or maybe ever are. #1 far and away would be MD's 8 and out vs JA playing 10 ball on a diamond.# 2 would be Shane's 6 or 7 playing 10 ball against Alex on the super tight diamond.

EDIT: Other than of course Earls 10, which is not only far and away the most impressive package and accomplishment in pool history, but one of the most spectacular sports stories I've ever heard.

High runs in tournaments (and thus high runs on film) are rare because the races are short. You only have up to two chances to do it in a race to 11. Where as you have up to 8 chances to run a 5 pack. This combined with the overall rarity of 10+ runs means that the only guy that will get one on film is Earl himself.

Then you also factor in people just plain being dishonest and you get 7 10+ runs on an internet forum.

My high run is a 6 pack over two sets with the same guy. One rack was a 3-9 combo, but the rest were legitimate break and runs.

I've had a few 5s and a bunch of 4s. My highest tournament run is 4, done twice.

As an aside, I would be curious to see some package results from the old TAR races to 100. It would be interesting to know the distribution of all packages achieved by what could be argued are top pros. I think I remember someone said Shane ran a 7 or something like that in 10 ball in one of those races. Also, I remember that Francisco ran I think it was an 8 pack in one of the Fatboy challenge matches. I think those were races to 15 or so.

In any event, I'm skeptical about the results of this poll. It seems like AZB is shooting pool in Lake Wobegone - where average is actually below average ha ha. I've seen a lot of pool from a lot of top players and a lot of pool from really good players and these type of packages just do not happen that often, period.

Having said all that, I'll go ahead and fess up that my meager runs are 3 packs in 9 ball on a 9' Diamond and a 4 pack in 8 ball playing on a 7' Diamond.

Maybe one day I'll be the first to run a "case" - 24 pack he he he...

I ran three twice, however it may not be the longest. In a gambling match I was so focused I was surprised when my opponent said "Holy crap. That's it". I won 7-0. I was so deep in the zone that day I couldn't remember any specific shot after the fact. I may have run more than three that day. All I know is that it was magical. And no, he did not play a second set.

3 pack of 9 ball on big table.

3 pack of 10 ball on small table (valley)

6 pack of 9 ball on small table (valley)
