i have been playing alot....for me, my back limits my time I can play, I played 2 people the past 4 days one champion and one D player it was very interesting...I beat the D player lie the champ beat me, I got the momentenum playing the weaker player and he hardly won a rack, exactact oppisite situation playing the other guy I just couldnt get any at all, its funny how that works, if I played as good playing the better player as I did the weak player I would have still got drilled just not as bad. Interesting thing, this isnt my first time noticing this condition, getting the momentium and holding it.

Overall i'm not hitting them very strong, when I have been playing alone is usually when I play my best and it hasnt been good. The good news is I'm having fun, i'm gonna go find some $100 action somewhere tonight-that is what I need right now, sometimes that brings the best out in me. the DCC ring game is in the back of my mind but that isnt a distraction, infact that i'm very excited to play in no matter if I'm playing the worst I have or good i'm comming to play.

just my sunday morning thoughts,

hey fatboy you've mentioned your back limits your playing time sometimes, do you think this is nessecarilly a bad thing? i mean sometimes we all can get perhaps bogged down playing every minute of every day and it can sometimes be a good thing to limit when you play. and when you do play you're more focussed and have a bit more hunger for the match.

so would you say your back problem is actually much of a disadvantage?

good luck in the dcc btw man!

its a huge problem i shot a video of me a week ago and I was going down on the shot 2 stroking and standing up, i missed easy shots made hard ones, i capable of missing any ball at any time I was playing the 6 ball and 9 ball ghost and i looked good in spots, then would miss easy shots. the next night I went out and played the 6 ball ghost and didnt turn the camera on and in about 35 minutes I missed 4 balls(wish I had the camera on) I dont play near that good but I did then, the differenc was my back didnt hurt and I could stay in the shot, i might not play that good for 6 months, i have caught gears like that before,

I was playing a very strong player the past few days and he said I looked uncomfortable, on some shots, he was right i'm also standing higher over the cue not like minnosota fats but not down low enough-it hurts. If I take enough drugs to get rid of the pain i lose my coordination and the speed control.

knowing all of thei yeah I know I play better on some days than others, i was in bed on the 24th and 25th th whole time i couldnt hit a ball no matter what i was in such bad pain.

i'm ok now if i'm good tonigh i'll go find action i have 2 guys i can play that dont care if i pull out winners because of my back, because we play often, they are cool about it, i'm loses about $200 between both of them, I was ahead for a while, both are great guys and true hardcore players. They know they can win something and I know I can win playing them so its a good game for everyone.

IT's been so long since I've won. I forgot....

It's been so long since I've won, I don't know how people would react if I tried to pull out while ahead.... I did play a guy up in Seattle 10 a game 8ball and after an hour or so I was up 20 and wanted to call it a night.. He wanted to keep playing and bump the bet but I didn't even think about it because of all the times I had just played a couple of sets and quite when I was down....

$100 action aint gonna do it for you... Thats like me playing for a penny :) No pressure at all... If you think action will help you, play for bigger stakes and give yourself a reason to win. If I was playing for a penny a game, I'd know losing would be OK... You need to bet something you don't want to lose like a night with your ol lady :) or some real cash...

Now go play Bucktooth and run him over!

Get some C21H30O2 for that back pain and be done with it...

And get that practice, I am looking forward to seeing you win the ring game... I think we all are...

DCP, Fatboy is gonna fly out to Indiana and Kick your A$$ for hacking his AZ screen name..

Dummy up and study the lesson being offered by your current concerns, whether it be a mental, or physical lesson.

I will be pulling for you in the ring game to play your best.

Fatboy,

Go grab the book "The Inner Game of Tennis". It is short but sweet, it really helps you understand the mental aspect of the game and how much it effects your play. Did wonders for me, a great eye opener! This will be great for the DCC.

I dont look at $$$ that way, $100 is what it was to me when I was broke, I keep it all in perspective.

oxycodone + pool = no back pains :)

I cant handle the heavy pain meds, I cant play when I take to many light ones, I wish it was that simple.

Money is a funny thing... people don't realize it, but $100.00 buys the same things regardless if you are rich or poor.

There is a good player in my area who is a millionaire and plays like a champion for $20 a game one pocket. He won't bet more than that, and good players seek him out to play him for $20 a game, because he offers them great competition to get them warmed up for higher stakes. The man plays good and HARD for that $20......but could obviously bet as much as anyone could handle. He also plays jam up 9 ball, and runs 100's in straightpool from what I've heard. I've only seen him play 9 ball and one pocket.

Hey Fatboy, just curious what kind of cue you are wielding

a Barry Szam for the past few months. I'm very happy with it, its a bit fancy to be a daily player but I like how it hits, I perfer to play with a basic looking cue however this perticular cue works good for me, Barry is gonna do something cool on it after the the Derby. I'm gonna keep using it for along time, I might have some of the ivory inlays removed in a year if i'm still playing with it-which most going to be the case, that particular cue hits them like I like. Who in their right mind would cover over inlays- in a Szam of all cues?....Me, I love fancy cyes but I just like playing cues simple, no flash. I hit ballswith hte fancy cues and the artistic aspect but when I go to the poolroom I like to just have a cue that is all go and no show. at home they all get used, except when i'm in alot of action or getting ready for something then I stick to one cue. I have a bushka that I like the most of all my cues but am scared to lose it so it stays home, the Barry is real close, real close!!! I have a couple Gus Szam's but for the same reason they dont leave home on trips. I'm one lucky SOB to have a choice, I count my blessings every day, but would give away all my cues to feel good.

Right now i'm playing like a B player(not so good for me), I hope I start hitting them better soon, I wont be able to play tonight, I have been in bed all day-my back is bad again today. Perhaps a day off will help. No matter what, I'm gonna be good for the Derby, If I cant play good I'll still make the best of it. But by then I should be hitting them good, for a player at my level. Today I took alot of pain meds so this post might seem odd, i'm kinda loopy, I just hit a down cycle, I have noticed over the years i play good for a week, then bad for 2-3 weeks then good again so i'll time out good for the Derby plus i'll feed off the crowd etc, funny how that works. my mind and confidence are good, i'm just missing balls, partially due to my back but also-just in a slump.
