as some of you know ive been putting in a poolroom in my basement, and ive gotten alot of ideas and input from AZ (thanks to all who helped). So the big day finally arrived, i got my black kim steele installed friday, and although the room is still a work in progress i LOVE it. Also i finally did the 6 recessed spotlights in the ceiling and man im glad i did. I went with 75watt halo ict lights, and ive found that ge edison 75 watt indoor spotlights do a superjob, this is much better light than any place ive been, id say it ties with the diamond pro light, but much cheaper and a much cleaner looking install. Ill post up some pics of the room when its completely done, but heres the table and lights...........envy me

Nice room but maybe the pictures you sent don't do it justice. A little dark. I hope you don't have to invest to get a miners helmet.

you know, i noticed they got a lil dark after i resized them, here try these.......and nope, no miners helmet needed

I DO, VERY MUCH, like the lighting setup. I have a 24 x 60 garage, where my pool table is now located. One of these days, I plan to enclose a section of this so that I can play in comfort during the winter. I may use this idea instead of the traditional drop-lighting I had planned on.

Also, this second set of pics is MUCH better -- thanks for re-doing them. It seems, on this forum, most folks don't pay any attention to the quality of the pic they are posting -- they just take their "one setting fits all" digital camera, point, shoot, download and post without looking.

If I see something I'm interested in, your pics for example (the origs were almost BLACK on my screen), over 80% of the time I have to copy them to my clipboard, drop them into photoshop and do some photo-editing just to find out what I am actually looking at -- major waste of time! This scenario is THE SAME on all three of my computers, the ages of which are 6 months, 4 years and 9 years. I just wish folks would pay a little bit more attention to the viability of whatever it is they are going to post.

well they looked a lil darker than the originals after i resized them but they still looked pretty good on my pc, dunno what happened..........ill try and do betterrrrrr:(

How do you like the Kim Steel? Check mine out in the sig.

I need to shim the pockets on mine...I was used to a GC-style with triple shims so this is too soft. Outside that, the playability of the table is superb...great leveling system, quiet rails, solid slate...

ive played on kim steeles for the last 10 years, my local room had them, matter of fact the owner of the room was the main importer of them (according to him). Ive always liked how they played.....mine is one of the earlier ones, 4 1/4 inch pockets, and it plays pretty tight. Yeah the leveling system is nice, and its a nice solid table, heavy as crap frame then you get the slate on it, surely not going anywhere. Youres looks just like mine, very nice.

I've heard those Kim Steele tables are the nuts, they used them at the '94 Roanoke 1P tournament. What's the room that has them, Guys and Dolls?

yeah guys and dolls in roanoke has them.....DJ's in martinsville had them til he closed down last year.......thats where i got my table from. Theres a few rooms in greensboro that has them too.

Nice looking basement. I like how you did your ceiling. I'm trying to figure out if i can do anything with mine. I'll be getting a new Gold Crown in the next few weeks. I'll try to get some pics up of what i have now in the next few days.

Yeah, I kinda wonder what happened, too, because your avatar has always come in clear, bright and beautiful every time. Anyway, I apologize if you think I was after you in my rant -- I wasn't, since you made the second effort to post better pics. It's the REST of the gang I was after.

I have found that, when I post an image, I generally have to bring the levels way up in photoshop (or whatever) before download in order to present a reasonable picture. Funny thing: this takes me less than a minute before I "certify" an image for AZ consumption. I spend WAY MORE time trying to get the proper compression so that the final image is just under AZ's 100k limit -- but it's still less than 3 minutes, all told. When I get the first one right, the rest (if there's a series) all get done in less than a minute apiece!

Additionally, your Kim Steele looks almost INTIMIDATING (but REALLY NICE!). I've never played on one, but I've heard nothing but good stories about them -- I sure hope you get massive enjoyment out of this fine table -- and, your great and ever-improving room setup, as well ;) ;) ;) !!!

Nice pics. I recently put a pool table in my basement, and will post pics when I can. I really think that the home basement pool room is the best therapy for the stressed-out suburban Dad!!

What's the cloth?

Looks great.
Regardless of where the table is, having a table at home is an awesome substitute for the TV. Wish I had the room.

Enjoy and looking forward to updates,
Myron
