seems strange to me that when i played no one would play me for cash except
johnny, efren, parica and a few others and even then i had to play them even .
now seems people will play for money although not sure how much. we were in a bar on friday and some guy asked to play golf on the six footer for $100&10 . so i said i will play $500&50 just to see what he would say and he said ok:). and i said jk i dont gamle pool no more. and he knew from another guy that i was a good player. back in the days i would have loved this. but if i was playing dont really think it would have happened. hmm strange how that works:)

That guy is just trying to act tough on the internet. I'll bet you if you did show up he probably would have asked you to play for $10 with you giving him the 3, 5, 7, 9, the breaks, and 4 games to 7. :D :D :D

I don't like to fly either, Mark! :p When we go to the Derby, it's a 10-1/2-hour drive, barring no unforeseen weather hazards in the mountains of West Virginia. It sure does get cold up there.

On the Home page of AzBilliards, there is a Tournaments section which has the events categorized by the month. You may find a few choices there to your liking.

About the cue stick, there will be a whole slew of vendors on site. As well, there may be a few folks selling their cues on the side. Last year, there was an abundance of opportunities to purchase a variety of cues, and the good thing is that you will be there and can try them out in hopes of finding that special "hit." If you're looking for a break cue, this is a good way to check them ALL out and pick one that you like the best, i.e., Predator, Sledgehammer, and the rest of the brown-ferruled weapons.

All in all, I think the Derby would be a good tournament for you to make your debut! ;)

Most of the players will be there, and I think you will enjoy seeing old friends as well as checking out the new kids on the block! I have heard so many good things about you, and if you decide to make the trek, I look forward to meeting you! :)

OK...I'll be holdin' you to your word. A man is only as good as his word. Don't go turning into a stealth fighter jet again and flying undetected on radar.

Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap....hey Mark, that's my shoe and I'm not playing Sammy Davis Jr. by dancing. You know the old saying...tomorrow never comes...at least for you.

Phoenix is only 3 or 4 hours away from here Mark, I'll practice all day long with you if you made it here. All you guys in Phoenix should take advantage of this, he just wants to practice, and believe me, your game will go up a notch when you're done. Call me if you get a chance to make it here Mark, 928-279-7008. Peace.

I completely agree w/ RDog's advice here. Tadd knows things about pool that most of us dont even know exist. Guaranteed you will learn. I wish I lived out there for it. And you don't even have to play for $$!

Mark, I would love to play you for the experience but I would be no challenge being a lowly 8 an all :( I played your friend Mike Lindfield last week and he put it on me pretty good. He was just playing around too. I did pick up a couple things by watching him beat me though...

If you can't find a game, I'll let you beat me all day! Flat rate table time will be on me too :)

You won't feel like a "lowly 8" when you get done. Mark doesn't care how good you play anyway, he just wants to practice and we all know that practicing alone can be a bit boring, at times. Practicing with better players is, IMO, the best way to learn this game. Sure, you can get lessons from the best instructors in the world and that always helps, but I learned from watching and playing the best players from not only California, but the best in the world. I played guys for the table time just about everyday when I first started playing and my game shot up in no time. Then, I was fortunate enough to have the best match-up artist putting me in games and that was always a confidence boost. When he was involved, I knew I had the nuts. Anyway, back to Mark, whoever has the chance to practice with him for a few hours will come out feeling like a champion because you'll see how the game is supposed to be played, FOR FREE! Does it get any better than that? Peace.

You know, all this time you have been posting and I haven't taken the time to point out the fact that your avatar is, by far, the worst I have seen. :D

Oh yeah, I'll hit some balls with Mark. I don't want to put him back into retirement though!

There should be a bar tournament at Sonneys tonight in Albuquerque. On Central not far from the college. Had some good players the time I was there. Otherwise try Corner Pocket on Lomas.

Sounds good. I'll be waiting for your call! ;)

I don't know how much it would be to rent a car, one way, but I know that Alamo does it for like an extra $60 (or something like that). You might want to do that instead of cramming into bus.
