imperfect slate - how to fix?

Question for the experts -

I picked up a used table for cheap (first mistake, I know), and I'm in the process of setting it up.

As I was leveling the slate, I found that one of the pieces is not flat. There is a spot near one of the sides where the slate has a decided slope down. The piece in question is the head end piece, the bad spot is at the left corner of it where it meets the center piece.

The under side of the slate is flat. The slate isn't damaged. It's like the top was just ground thin in that one area.

If I position my level so that half is on the flat part of the slate and half is on the bad part, I can rock the level back and forth by pressing down on either end of the level. The gap is probably roughly the thickness of a dollar bill. It's enough to move the bubble on my Starrett 3 or 4 graduations.

My question is, what's the best way to fix this? Surely there's got to be a way. I want this thing to play right.

Thanks in advance folks,

I guess my question is either really dumb, or no one has an answer.

What I'm thinking of trying is to use some Rock Hard to fill the low spot, and sand it till it's a level as i can get it. I'm no pro, but I bet I can get it close (or at least, better than it is now). Although I wonder if bondo would work as well (or better).

Maybe I'll take some before pics, and pics as I go and post up my results.

That's pretty much normal with slates having seams that need to be matched up. There's a few ways you can flush the seams together, so call me at 702-927-5689

If you called Glen, then you should have a good plan already. All I want to say is you need to keep ROCK HARD water putty as far away from a pool table as possible. You will have gravel, in a short time, under the cloth if you use it.
