Import full splice?

I just found this while thrifting about 30 minutes ago. No shaft, or bumper. 4 veneers Blue, Orange, Black and Natural. Imitation MOP dots at end of points. Wrap area is brown paint over the wood, you can see the grain. Despite some fading on the veneers and some glue lines near the tips, it feels and looks solid and quality. Looks like a good candidate for a new joint and pin. Ideas? I'm thinking Adam/Helmstetter blank.

Could be converted...but it's not Adam. Schmelke made some similar, but definitely a different joint. Looks like a "Taiwan" cue based on the joint.

I have often wondered if some of these would make decent blanks.

I think it's a Rambow influenced custom using an Adam blank.

The joint looks just like the kind Robinson used - you might check with them. I think it's a Robinson conversion.

Not a Robinson, though similar joint design. This is an inexpensive "Taiwan" import.

I went back to the thrift store, did some hunting and found the shaft.

The pin is 3/8 x 12 I think.

I'm not saying its not an import, but most if not all pin in shaft imports I have seen have ramin wood shafts.

Yes, they do often have Ramin wood shafts...but not all of them. I have one here with such a joint that is a maple shaft.


It's a cool cue. As I said I have often wondered about using such a cue for a conversion. You can occasionally find some nice splices and veneers in them. Often there are glue lines and air pockets in the veneers but occasionally there is a nice one. That looks like a nice one.
