i have a question for everyone...im a new guy on this forum by the way...its great...anyway there is a shot that someone was explaining to me and i think it sounds impossible to make....ive tried and couldnt make it......on the long rail....freeze a ball on teh middle diamond on one side and freeze a ball on the next diamond that is on the same side...so both balls will be on the same side of the table but both are frozen to each of the middle diamonds....you have to put a draw stroke on teh ball and sink the other ball in teh opposite corner......thats the easy part......the impossible part is shooting the same ball but to draw the cueball inteh same pocket as you are standing...remember that both balls are frozen....and yo uhave to sink the cueball in teh same pocket as you are standing.....is this even possible.....if it is can someone please tell me how to do it.......i have another shot but when i get some replys on this one ill put it up...nice to meet everyone and youll be hearing from me..... l8er

Welcome aboard !

There is a great little Shockwave based pool table at :

http://endeavor.med.nyu.edu/~wei/pool/9egg/

You can move the balls around to set up a shot you want to discuss, then hit the 'COPY' button, and paste the text into a post. The text looks something like :

START(
%AO1C9%Bg5C7%PY9D0%eB5b6

)END

To view someones setup (like the above), copy the text including the START and END and everything in between, then go the the page and PASTE it in to see the layout.

(two object balls frozen to the same side rail a diamond apart, pocket one of them and draw the cue ball to the other pocket on that same side of the table.)
As I understand your description, the problem is that the cue ball has to be drawn "through" the second object ball.

This can be done with a masse shot, but it's not easy.Another way that might work is to play on a table that is very crooked.

If the below is the shot, you need to hit the cue ball with a medium/slow stroke and extreme right english so it is deflected away from the rail, then the right english and medium/slow stroke makes the cue ball go back to the rail and hug it making the 5 ball into the corner pocket.

But with draw from that distance, I would think you would need a harder stroke to keep the ball rolling backwards. Then the faster movement of the cue ball would mess up the slowly curving to the rail part???

Give DaveK's diagram is correct for the position of the balls, this is a very difficult shot just to make the ball and forget about drawing the cb back. I remember quite a few years ago several of us tried shooting this shot just to make it. Some of the players attempting this shot were A++ players and they couldn't make it. One of the B players was able to make the ball 1 out of 3 attempts. To make it and draw the cb back into the opposite corner is indeed a very difficult shot imho!

Btw, welcome to the board niimush!

sorry dont have time to do the table ..... has anyone ever made this draw shot and do it consistently????.....another thing...hows the action in detroit area lately..anything going on????

Impossible isn't far from acurate on this shot, although I concede that the masse mentioned by Bob Jewett might be the best chance.

This shot takes a real expert. More power to anyone that can pull it off!

Then you're going to have to help those of us who are having trouble understanding your description. Was my re-description correct? If you don't clarifiy the description, we're just guessing at what the shot is. At least one of us has the idea very wrong.

Ok here is what I have been told about THIS shot: The cueball is frozen on the long rail one diamond from the side pocket. The object ball is frozen on the long rail one diamond on the OTHER side of the side pocket. The object is to make the object ball in the corner and draw the cueball into the opposite corner where you are standing, right? I've been told that the shot is impossible. The only way you could possibly do it would be to jump the cueball over the side and with the backspin put on it get it to draw into the corner, but otherwise, it can't be done.

If this can be done, then go ahead and prove me wrong, but many people have told me (I asked this very same question a few months back) that it's impossible because it is extremely unlikely to have flawless rails, and an absoloutely flawless stroke to go along with it.

Oh, someone already mentioned how to just make the shot, you just use inside english with a slow stroke, and the cueball will hug the rail.

Ok, This is the this shot I saw a Pro shooting at a tourny telling anybody in the world could shoot this shot against him for 500 a shot until one of them quit. The shot is a straight in shot with the cue ball being froze on the second diamond and the object ball being froze on the fifth diamond on the same long rail. You have to shoot the shot and draw back and scratch in the same corner you are shooting over.....looks almost impossible after you attempt this a couple of times.....it's hard enough to just make the ball with any kind of draw stroke. IT CAN BE DONE. The Pro making the challenge and shooting this spectacular scratching draw shot on a DIAMOND TABLE was none other than..........Shannon Daulton.

wow...I heard Archer did it before, I'm gonna ask him.

well that description was better than mine..... cueball frozen to the rail on teh second diamond....object ball frozen to the fifth diamond....you have to shoot the object ball straight in and draw the cueball back to the same pocket as you are standing.....i was figuring out how to do it and did it a couple times.....tell shannon daulton ill bet him i make it 1 outta 5 times till he's broke....lol..whats happeing in detroit anyone???

I've done it a few times set up like this:

START(
%EU2C9%Pa6C9%WD3C9%XT3D0%[r5D0%\V2C9%eB4b6%_V8D1%`^7D0%a`6D1

)END

Just takes a GOOD, straight draw stroke. Done on a diamond pro with simonis.........

~DC---it's not impossible:)

I was 1 for 3 last night on a GC4 2x shimmed. No side juice, just the suckie-suckie.
