In Progress - Ebony on Ebony w/ New Rings

This one should be done later this afternoon. I just need to finish up the point inlays.

New Ringwork has a silver notched diamond with double silver barbells between. The notches in the diamonds are .010" wide and they are not filled in with colored epoxy. The barbell pieces were cut from silver sheet, so they are all one piece. I will be doing that for all of my barbell ringwork from now on. In the past, I wasn't able to do this because I wasn't able to use small enough bits to cut silver. These barbells were cut out with a .010" bit in order to minimize the radius where the bar joins the dots.

The second photo just shows the diamond on a penny, so you can get an idea of the actual size.

More photos coming in a few hours...

Mickey has a cue on order Art. You said you were going to contact me when we talked at the Expo. I haven't heard from you.

Also, if you want a plain jane, you should grab one when I put one up for sale. I have a few that might be done in the next couple of months. They all just need ringwork, but I haven't had a chance to get to them. I'm not going to take any more orders for Plane Janes, but will have some available from time to time. One just got spoken for today, but I still have an Amboyna with a Thuya Handle (or possibly the other way around) and I think an East Indian Rosewood one that could be available. There might be a few more, I honestly don't remember. I have too many cues in progress, which is one of the reasons I have set a limit on the number of orders I'm taking.

Your work keeps getting better & better. Now you are raising the bar.

Thanks Bob. I'm trying.

As for Updated Pics, there should be some tomorrow. I have a new cnc machine and while it's a lot nicer than what I was working with before, I have to relearn everything, so everything takes a lot longer than it did before.

I spent two days on the dots for the points. They were off by .002" on one side. I had to change out a coupler on one axis. I knew it had to be done, but I had new leadscrews coming and was just waiting to do everything at once. I finally broke down and changed out the coupler and got the machine all dialed in and finished up the dots. That was yesterday morning.

I left at 2 to take my daughter to see the Goo Goo Dolls and got home really late. Been watching the kids today and will be back to work in the morning. Of course, just as I was getting ready to leave, Kerk called me and told me my screws were ready to ship, so they needed a credit card. They are here now, but I need to get the ends machined, so it will be a bit before I get them into the machine.

Once I have those in place, I'll try some fancier stuff. I also ordered a 300x microscope to help me look at things. I'm more excited about that than getting the screws mounted.
