In St. Louis this weekend.

Side Pockets is OK but they have to open the place up to St. Charles MMA hoosiers too, which sucks. There are other places in STL that are good. Almost all the action seems to be a half hour out of town though, which definitely IS a weak point. Aside from Cue and Cushion and Saratoga (which is relatively small) the only pool rooms in STL are all bar tables, which is a problem.

As far as APA is concerned, it's not amazing, but it's got a good amount of people for a sport that's declining, so if you want it to disappear, you'll just want pool to die a quicker death.

I agree that in the middle of St.Louis it is tough. I have to travel at least 15-20 minutes to get to a 9 ft. but action is everywhere. the funny thing is you just have to be around and actually go to places and be willing to gamble. I don't think driving 20-30 minutes is out of line for pool. Kenny's is almost always full and I get bombarded with games when I go in there. He has a nice in house league on Thursday with about 20 teams. Pints and Rails has s few things going on. The Cue is probably the busiest APA place I have ever seen. Side Pockets, ABC, Riverbend, Hillsboro, the 10 Hotshots locations, Pink Gallions, JP's x2, Teachers, It just ain't that bad around here.

Who did you lose to --- then I can tell you if you should just not show up to play Lou and forfeit the $3,000.

Bar B Q at Shooter's in O'Fallon = FAIL. There are much better Bar B Q places in St Louis. One is about 3 miles from Lindenwood and owned by a guy that loves pool. And if you were sold on Pappy's cause of the Diners, Drive Ins hype then they have a sister place that your tour guide should have taken you to.

At least you went to the only two places in St Louis where pool is alive. Everywhere else is closed, dead or not worth the trip.

I am not forfeiting regardless. If at this point Lou was favored to beat me 9-0 he will still have to deal with me for nine games.

Believe me I am getting my 10k's worth out of this win or lose.

As for who I lost to and what I lost it is an advertising expense. :-)

From what I know one plays a bit better and one plays a couple balls better at least.

The feeling is mutual. It was a bit crowded to try and socialize and take in the match. Ray Hansen really should get the credit though because I had given him a case to do with what he wanted and he donated it. So when I was introduced as the benefactor I felt a little embarrassed and decided to go ahead and match Ray's donation with another one.

I was glad to be there and witness what is hopefully the seed for the future of pool in the United States.

Thanks to Terry, the owner of the Break for the invitation to the match.

John I am the person that you may recall that said I was rooting for you but thought you to be the underdog. I have since had a chance to talk to a few people who had a better sense of both players involved and now I am happy to say I am still rooting for you and now consider Lou to be the underdog.

Sorry I underestimated you. I hope we get a chance to play someday, even though 1 pocket is far from my best game.

Uh-OH! My instincts have been confirmed by others.

I will play one pocket for Mark Wilson "FUNDAMENTAL SECRETS".

DN and DH. Yeah JB, you need to bring up your game a bit.

Well the window is still wide open. :-)

Maybe those mythical DCC investors will finally appear and be willing to invest quite a bit more on their horse. I doubt it but I will have 20k more ready to invest on myself.

Ok Lou you can go back to practice now. I am gone from St. Louis. The guys at Cue and Cushion say they really miss you. They need your micrometer to measure the pockets.

I had a really good time at Lindenwood and at The Break and at Cue and Cushion. Lots of pool history in both spots. I have to say I would be incredibly sad to be barred from a great old time pool room like Cue and Cushion.

Picked up some great shirts - they might have the best pool room shirts I have seen so far. Craig, the owner, is a designer and he designs all the shirts. Go there if you want to see some of our new production cases.

Who got barred from Cue and Cushion?

Someone who writes eloquently about pool yet could not appreciate the greatness of a room that has been there since 1966 and hosted some of the best of the best including the great St. Louis Louie Roberts.

Such a shame that this guy can no longer enjoy all the rich history and one pocket competition in that great room.
