The rings are interesting. The closer to the joint the rings are, the more ivory is in them. Notice how the proportion of white to black changes. Can't say I've ever seen rings do that.

I have a butterfly in the works with Pat now, in around the same price range, but mine won't be for sale, lol

Price range???

Anybody take a guess at the street value of this Diveney cue? How does that G10 pin hit vs a std s/s radial? I am seriiously interested in it, but I have no idea of what price this Diveney Q best reflects the value of the work put into it and also secondhand value. I have hit with SW, JossWest, Weston and Harris. Anyone know how a fullspliced butterfly hits compared to any of the above? Appreciate any help here. Thanks.

I have sold many of Pat's cues and have a G10 fancy sneeky in stock now. I have test hit the cue without chalking or dressing the tip and must say the G10 fels very nice. Firm hit with good feedback. If it doesn't sell soon I will keep it to replace the Frey I just sold!!

Ok, but does anyone have a level X cue like this one and what did it cost.

When you say the hit is firm, what do you mean. Is it anything like Jerry's old South West from the 90's before he passed? Does it hit like a skip weston with recuts, or is it more like a Capone, Bludworth or Ginacue?

It would be very helpful to learn this.

I read somewhere that his shafts are slightly "thick". I am guessing this means it isn't very flexible and doesn't offer up effortless english? Has anyone added a spare shaft that is 12.8mm or something?

That pin.....glass pin???....is the hit like a wooden pin or more like a s/s pin, 3/8-10 or radial flavor?

Thanks trying to learn while shopping here. Tried to get a hold of Diveney, but haven't gotten a reply yet. He is probably busy building his next masterpiece.

I would say it feels very much like a Cognoscenti I had with the glass pin. I just sold a Diveney with a 12.8 shaft and it played very well, which is why the man bought it!! I have had no problem putting any english on with his cues either! If you like send me your e mail and I'll send you a few pics of one I have in stock, and some others that I have sold..

Funny. I never scrolled down and read through any of the comments. I just clicked on the link and looked at the pics. And the very first thing I thought was nice butterfly work but why bother going to the extent of doing all of that woodwork if you're going to slap on some ugly-a** rings???

Not to mention, I can't stomach that wrap. I don't know what it is because I only glanced at the pics for a second but it looked like ostrich. Really unattractive.

Again, the woodwork is nice but the the cue as a whole needs some fine tuning visually.

I like Paul Fanelli's work. He is truly a master when it comes to butterflies and based on what I've seen in his shop lately, he is a true woodworking artist. Paul does excellent inlay work but knows that when making a cue of beautiful wood combinations using various techniques and designs, he follows suit and makes his ringwork equally impressive. He's a brilliant cuemaker and I'm glad to see him getting the recognition he deserves.

Hello,

I saw this cue in person when it was just a forearm, IT IS NOT a full splice butterfly first off, Pat told me that the person who ordered it paid Something like $2500 for it. That was back in April, so I'm not sure how second hand the cue really is. I use G-10 in quit a few of my custom cues and radial pins, If your a feel-sensitive player there is a difference. Not to mention that the joint is solid Ivory, so I'd guess a bit stiff but sweet. Let me tell you the cocobolo in the forearm is beautiful, not your standard coco..lots of figure.
