Just out of curiousity:

How many pool cues are sold in the United States each year?

How many pool cue cases are sold in the United States each year?

I'd be interested to know the size of the Industry we have created.

Or ... a web site that would have this info.

Thanks in advance.

I have seen that kind of information in the cue magazines. They usually have an annual survey of their customers and show this type of info.

this question is completely unanswerable...

Why is that? Aren't there industry groups that do studies and keep track of this sort of thing?

Trust me: The way people in this country like to count and track stuff .... someone has a number. Might not be the right number, but someone has a number !!!

i have a number

18,695,024

who cares what the number is if its not right. so theres your number. its as close as any answer you will get. even with this number that you know is wrong what closure does it give you knowing its wrong? now your in the same place asking the same question as in the beginning

i am a horrible record keeper as i bet a few others are. i dont know how many cues i made total last year. so your number can never be right. now how many other makers are just like me. also how many other makers has no one ever heard of...

i hope u can understand what i mean. its impossible

I remember when Pool & Billiard magazine once a year would have their cue stick edition. It would show a number of cues from different manufacturers and builders and give a summary about a number of different statistics. One of the statistics was how many the larger builders put out a year but it wasn't precise. It was like Meucci - over 30,000, McDermott - over 60,000 and such. I only remember 3 manufacturers amounts. Those two amounts for those two companies mentioned and Cuetec - over 1,000,000.

I'd say into the millions. But like has been said, it's not a plausible quest. You cannot know or even know if your guess is close. It would be a full time job doing the count, and a full time job requires full time compensation. That compensation has to come from somewhere & I cannot think of any source for it. Who would actually pay somebody to count pool cues? We'll never know. There's no profitable market for that knowledge so that knowledge will never be aquired.

works fine for me. try clicking in a different area or if your doing a copy past make sure your not getting any additional charecters in your clip board like a leading space or something. also make sure you are not behind a firewall/proxy that might be blocking the site. either way its BCA's website.

this is actually a very easy data point to figure out. i am a market researcher and we do this kind of thing all the time. one, any market data you produce is always an approximation, you will never get or even know if you get the 'actual' number. however, you can get a very good approximation within a reasonable margin of error. so one way to do this, is to get a random sample of the US population and make sure it is large enough to extrapolate to the rest of the population. so you would survey say 10,000 people and ask how many pool cues they've bought in the past year, the cost, whatevery you want to know, etc. then find out the total population from the US Census and multiply accordingly. you would NOT try and find every producer of pool cues and comb thru records to count each cue shipped. that is just not practical.
