Did anyone even see where one would acquire the "mail in rebate" form? A rather odd promotion.

Chris

Well, we all know Roy is a bit different in how he approaches the billiard business. So if he wants to do a mail in rebate then that's his thing. I guess all I can say is that it works in other industries. I have bought computers and other stuff because of the rebate and then sometimes cashed them in sometimes not.

Thanks for looking though. I am sure that most of the active posters on this section of AZ will pass up the sale - it's not the kind of horse trading that is more fun.

What you won't see however is any post afterwords with the title "IndyQ ripped me off". :-)

Unless someone doesn't get their rebate check - lol......

Chris

I just checked IndyQ web-site, and all purchase apparently tied to a Mail In Rebate? For some reason I can not figure out, but people have a tendency to not do the rebate thing after they make a purchase.

Many year ago Hasselbach cameras did a big Promotion with Mail In Rebates on Leneses, body, Back, and Hasselbach cameras, and accessories.

I ask the Factory Representative at the time how they could afford to do such a promotion, as they were giving back a lost of CASH.

Peter Power was the Representative name, and he said only 30% or less of the buyer followed up with the Mail In Rebates

So if you make a purchase, do follow up and mail in your stuff for the REBATE.

hey john, what does the inside of these cases look like? tube seperators?

All the hard cases except one are done using the individual tubes - Instroke style with padding inside the tubing.

Only one on IndyQ was done with the new lightweight style - Fabric liners with foam rubber in-between, surrounded by a hard shell. That is the JJJ-Case.

The Butterfly cases feature the semi-hard boards with elastic loops.

More pix of just about all of these are available on www.jbcases.com/forsale.html

I second you on that. Love the cases anyway.

Just curious, I tried to search for what people have against Roy. I didn't find any threads specifying exactly what he has done to make people not do business with him.

I bought a GTF case from Roy and he was very helpful. We exchanged numbers and he called me a few times to verify my order and let me know that the case was shipping (same day I ordered). Seemed really helpful to me.

I'm not saying he is the best from my one transaction but I'm just asking more for future reference because I have thought about purchasing cues from him.

I have to ask, why? I'll give you that Roy is a bit eccentric. But he doesn't pull any punches and he tells you exactly what's on his mind. He may not say things that you like all the time but for myself, I prefer honesty. He chewed my ass out up one side and down the other one time over a total misunderstanding, on his part, but I had to give him credit for not sitting there with his thumb up his ass. Personally, I trust him. I'd rather deal with someone like him than some two faced piece of s**t.

Yeah, I bought a SouthWest off of Dick Abbott one time. Really smooth deal. I wouldn't hesitate to order from him again if he had something I wanted.

Roy is good people. He is abrasive and holds views about "trunkers" that rub people the wrong way. Some people take offense to being put in the trunker category by Roy and if I were in their position and was labeled as such then I wouldn't like it either.

I started out in this business as a "trunker" so to speak. I think most of the people in this business could be accussed of "making a living" doing something else while they built their billiard business.

Roy doesn't like people who constantly flip cues for little over cost as he thinks that this devalues the cue, devalues the work the maker put into it, and makes it hard to have a reasonable conversation about the cue when prices are all over the board. Roy also doesn't like to trade his "treasures" for other people's "trash". Now this one really burns people up because everyone thinks that what they have is the nuts. Roy however spends a lot of time making sure that the cues he has for sale are new or in pristine condition. He can't stand it when people offer him cues in subpar condition in trade for his mint condition items. And this happens frequently, not by "established" dealers mind you.

We talk a lot about integrity and honesty. Roy is the kind of person who will go to any lengths for you if you deal with him fairly. At the other end of the spectrum he will not mince words if he feels that you are trying to screw him. People aren't usually used to this level of forthrightness from a person and it comes across as shocking.

If you are a friend to Roy then you know his great side. If you aren't a friend then you unfortunately know his pissy side.

On net though he is one hell of a cue dealer, has been in business in the same location for more than 15 years, supports several cuemakers, doesn't hesitate to place large orders when he believes in a product.

And lest you think I am a Roy Fanboy because he buys my cases you would be totally wrong. He and I had viscous words in the past and we have moved on from that to get to know and admire each other's values. I did not want to sell to him at all in the beginning because I know he can be a real jerk sometimes. But it's a challenge to have your work bought by someone who is so critical and cares so much about providing top notch products. I accepted the challenge and here we are.

Love him or hate him Roy stands as a unique person who above all else does what he says he will do without question.
