Inexpensive PFD

I think it's because it looks just like a simple bocote cue with a few inlays.. JMO

I would guess there are a couple things holding this auction back. First, the seller--has not sold anything before and has almost no history. Even with no history the auction appears very well done and he has 33 items for sale. Second the pictures are very poor. There are no pics of and PFD markings so you are going on simple trust. Just a few thoughts

I have it on my watch list. I think as the auction closes, it will be quite a bit higher. Being a bocote lover myself, I'll probably put in a bid as well.

1. it's not really all that attractive (imo)
2. about 98% of potential buyers do not find bacote appealing
3. no wrap (most buyers prefer a wrap)
4. hardly any inlay work or ivory (save maybe the ferrules)
5. floating points (most buyers prefer traditional style points)
6. the market for most, especially lower-end, PFD cues has been stagnant for several years now

7. hope it's not yours :)

just my opinion since you asked. do not mean to offend anyone, just basing my thoughts on my observations on the custom cue market at present.

I'm not trying to screw up your bidding, Mike. I just saw your bids. Sorry! :o

Not my cue, Sean. And, thanks for the information; especially coming from someone who knows the field.

That cue was for sale or on here a few months ago I am sure. Not sure who owns it though...shrug.

Where's Koop "Mr. Bacote Lover"? He and Mike T are the 2 people out of the 100 on here who make up the bacote fan club.

Ohhhhh, Koop . . . . . .

That was mine

The Bocote cue on EBay now was mine for a short time, and was part of a matched set. There are way better pictures of it on here if you do a search for "Bocote PFD". I traded that cue in to Paul towards my Titlist conversion he's doing for me, and he sold it to someone out of his shop. You will see in the pictures on here that the cue is signed between two of the points. Unless the guy that has it now has played with it, it is unplayed though, I never even test hit it.

It is actually a very nice looking simple cue when it comes right down to it, and though it would almost be a shame, if you absolute had to have a wrap, just cut the groove and put it on. If it makes you like it and you can get a good deal on it, go for it.

Thanks for the info, Burt.

Again, I was NOT running down the cue. I'm just amazed at the state of the cue market this year. Good for buyers, though! :)

No Problem Scott

Honestly, I thought I was stealing it when I bought it, and I got more in trade in than what I paid for it, so I'm happy with what I got. Everyone is entitled to their own taste, and truthfully, it wasn't my flavor either, I was just trying to turn it for a little gain.

Here's the link if anyone wants to see the better pics I had:

Good luck if any of you are bidding on it.

Hey Scott,

Keep learning about cues, and me & Koop may let you be #3 in the club. Sean is way too far gone already :D .

OK....as people come aboard I will amend my % in the previous post but I want to make it clear that I will NOT be included in your club. :D To each their own.

Bacote is a super fine wood to make a cue out of though...just ask Dennis Searing.

Scott, you are SO correct about the market. It seems like every seller is having a tough summer unless you're trying to move maybe a handful of cuemakers. There's a lot of wood out there....

Oh, I like bacote, too. I just haven't come out of the closet yet! ;)
