However, similar balls to those are somewhat easy to find and not so expensive.

Can some of you Billiard Experts please give me some information on these?

Approximate Value, Material they are made of, Age. ..

I would really like to Disagree..Since I found this set I have done a LOT of research trying to Find a similar set and the best I could do is find ONE single ball on Ebay that sold for around $40. As for Finding a COMPLETE SET there is Nothing.

If you are into billiard collectibles, you should get the Stellingas' book "Pool and Billiard Collectibles" which is about $60. They show six different sets of Burt balls in good to excellent condition. None of the sets they show is quite like your set. They also list prices, although they list the price for excellent condition as pictured. Here is an example:

Your set in comparison to the ones they show are much more beat up and cracked, and they seem to have lost most of their color. The Burt sets they show have 11 to 13 scallops in the "eyes" while your set has 8, I think.

It's possible that your set is either a very early set of Burt balls or a look-alike set. You would have to ask someone who is very familiar with Burt balls for details. Maybe they're worth $2000, or maybe $100.

Hi Zack , ironically I'm visiting some friends down on the coast right now so I'm pretty darn close to picayune. Down by long beach and the pass. Since you're that close to kiln, be sure to go visit my friends at the Lazy Magnolia Brewery, if you haven't already.

About the balls, keep in mind that some of the best collections out there ( of balls etc) never see the light of day, much less show up on the internet. Which means that you can never be too certain about how many still exist just based on web searches.

That said, I personally haven't seen that many of them either so I would guess they are fairly rare. However, it should also be noted that rare does not automatically equate to 'valuable ' , at least in dollars anyway. Some things, as rare as they are, still don't demand a high price. Oh well.

Nice ball set. If you don't want them , donate them to our museum:grin:

Another Reason I say the set would be fairly Valuable is because it comes with the Ivory Cue Ball seen in the Picture. Also the set is Complete with the Rack which cant hurt.

I bought the set to RE-Sale so I am Defiantly up for Offers.

why are people saying that is an ivory cueball.
Because it looks like an ivory cue ball. An old, cracked ivory cue ball. The cracking and chalk marks are very, very characteristic of old ivory balls.

With better pics and description I can get a closer look at composition, I assume they are clay but it's hard to tell from the pic, if they are ivorylene i will extract my last statement. If they are stone they will be worth a bit more.
The OP ball set looks to be a unfinished/unrounded set.

More info plz, you might have a valuable set. Either way, in that time someone hand painted the scallops and numbers back then.tru line made the first molded pool ball.

The ball sets came with the same material cueball as the set, the ivory ball would not be original to the set. Although the set look to never be used because they were never polished round could add some change.

Keep us updated on close up pics.
