hi

i wanted to inquire since i sent a cue to Maimi with a lizard wrap and it was seize by US custom in Anchorage Alaska
i am not sure if the lizard wrap was made of this animal yet it was seize,
thanks for the enlightenment

here is a transcript of emails as explain by Fedex

"We have recently received an update from FedEx US that US Fish and Wildlife seized the entire shipment.
The billiard cue is made with real Tegu Lizard Skin, an animal that is CITES(Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) endangered and protected animal.
Since the animal information was not declared and it does not have CITES Permit, the item was seized.
The item was taken from FedEx Custody and is now with the US Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement."

man this is bad news....i am not sure that tegu is on the cities....sorry to here this...looked it up...there are several tegus on the list...how can they prove that it is real lizard anyway...

Who made the cue? Tegu lizard skin is much pricier than ring tail or others. They would know if it is real and be able to provide documentation stating it is not Tegu.

Sorry about the news. Yes, Teju lizard is listed under CITES Appendix II and thus, can be caught up in trade restriction. Also included in that same Appendix II are both Brazilian and Honduras Rosewood. I would not be surprised to see most species of ebony wood under level II in a few years or sooner.

Obviously, this whole approach to protecting our fauna and flora is nuts. This is an ever changing target and one that puts us all at risk.

Soon pencils will be outlawed. Save this and save that sounds good initially but then the do gooders get carried away and start to ban everything.I fear it will only get worse from here out. Buy your leather case's now while you still can.

It should be banned. Of the thousands of wrap materials out there, no one needs the hide of some endangered apex predator hung around their cue.

Agreed. We have synthetic materials nowadays that are close enough to things like Ivory and I have never owned nor will I ever own a cue with endangered species contained in it.

thanks for your response guys, it can never be proven that it is a Teju lizard wrap, it is just some lizard skin i got here

well that serves as a experience for me
