shot is at about 5:25. i dont think theyre playing called pocket but if they are he mustve called it. alcano and pacquiao actually won this doubles match against lee van corteza and jundel mazon. but anyway i just thought this shot was cool enough to share. also this is a great guy to follow his channel on youtube if you like the filipino pool scene

thats really a neat and unique promotion idea to setup matches in the middle of a mall. America needs some promotion creativity like this.

oh Alcano has always been fun to watch

We had a tournament already in NYC, held in Grand Central Station.
It cost something like 60k to rent the space, which was more money than was added to the tournament. It wasn't held there again.

Filipino Santos Sambajon won the $30,000-added event, with Americans Mike Davis second and Earl Strickland third.

Side pocket facings cut at very shallow angle, like valley barboxes, allowed this shot.

Pretty amazing hit, but when you get forced into a shot can produce great results.

What do the facings have to do with it?

Looked like it went off the point...

I remember this, because I was there...absolutely by accident. My wife and I were visiting New York City as a newly married couple. Out of impulse we decided to take a stroll through Grand Central Station, and lo and behold there was Santos and Mike Davis playing pool smack in the middle of the station. It felt like I won the lottery.

I agree that this is an excellent way to promote the game. You get an instant audience. I'm surprised we haven't done more of these touranments in public venues.

That was probably not a smart use of the money. $60,000 sounds pretty dang steep to hold a tournament in a unique location.

You can execute smart ideas without using your life savings to do it.

That being said I bet that tournament was pretty cool to watch in that atmosphere.

36 watchers agree!

Nice shot. What I found amazing is that this type of shot must be so common there that no seemed to bat an eye, there was no applause, no roar from the crowd

I watched a bit of the match, and Manny has a nice stroke.

That's exactly what I noticed...after the great shot by alcano, that wasn't a gimme that manny was left with, and he stroked it nice, right down the rail to the pocket. They were out. Nice to see another sports superstar take to pool like a pro.
