Inside Pool Mag hacked

It looks like someone hacked IPs installation of Joomla. Joomla is the content management system they are using over there.

That is not a danger here as I am not using any "off the shelf" content management systems.

I would imagine if you only registered on their forums instead of the main site then you would be ok.

And yes, I am sure that we will take the blame for it as well as all the other hundreds of sites that this guy hacked. All the others were just a cover so it wouldn't be tracked back to AzB.

----Hundreds of sites you say? Its only a matter of time then. Hacking into sites like this one or IPM will get boaring. Its when they attemp a major corp or govt installation that the man drops the hammer on them. Unfortunately you will prob never know when they get caught.

I googled Sabotaqe and found that this person has hit tons of sites, and it seems that IPM may be the first pool related one.

Perhaps the Az Konusur comment is in another language, perhaps it was coincidence, perhaps he did research by reading the threads on that forum and here to see the fued and threw that in their for drama and people like myself fell for it.

Just wanted to point that out considering I am the person who assumed he may be from here due to that line in the message.

Doing a bit of Googling myself, I find that the third line of the hacked text appears to be Turkish. Makes sense as Turkey is a primarily Islamic nation.

Google "sabotage alman islam" (three words in the hacked text) and you'll see what I'm seeing.

I don't think there's any worries about someone putting a jihad out on pool. :/

With this happening, does this mean the person(s) who did this, now have all the contact info for all the forum members? And, if so, is it possible for them to gain any access to their personal info?

Generally what it means is, some kids hacked into the webserver and replaced the 'index' file - i.e. the HTML file used by default when coming into a domain - with their own file containing their "Hacked!" message. That's often as far as it goes - just a bit of digital grafitti, ha ha aren't they cool.

Now, if these guys were more serious and more skilled, they may have dug deeper and gotten into the forum user database. But, depending on the methods used by that forum software, the contact info may or may not have been encrypted in some way. And that also assumes that the forum database resides on the same server as their main webserver. In AZB's case, for example, they're two completely different servers.

That said, I would say that it would be a safe thing for all IP forum members to go change their passwords, as a precaution. If you find you can't log in anymore with your old password, contact their forum administrator and let them know to reset your password. If the forum admin gets enough of these sorts of requests, he'll figure out that his forum member DB was compromised.

I understand you are new here and there, as we all were at one time or another. So here is some great advice if you want to take it. Stay out of these kinds of threads. Enjoy the rest of both places and have fun. This stuff is for the people who need the drama and the desire to flame and battle. Both places have great things to offer and you should enjoy the good parts of that, otherwise all you will get from the pool forums is a bad taste in your mouth. These places deserve better than that.
