Insight needed to reaffirm my suspicions of a hack job on my gold crown III.

Please help!

I have had a mechanic who will remain anonymous until further notice come out at least 4 times in the last month. I bought the table from him one month ago. I knew the table was used and I also knew that this table was not refinished, but the man who I bought this table from assured me it was in good condition and would play as well as any table out there.

The first time they dropped off the table it clearly did not play right and by the 3rd trip back they admitted they had not replaced the rubber on the rails... which was part of the agreement.

The rubber has now been replaced and a woodworker was asked to do some work on the rails... what kind of work I have no idea.

The rails play *better* but certainly not what I expect. I am able to pinch the cloth into a bunch off the edge of the rail and the balls will often take spin in unpredictable ways.

The rails absolutely do NOT line up with the castings or the frame below it as you will see from the below pictures. Also, the pockets are inconsistent in size. They were supposed to be double shimmed and you can put two balls through all the way to the back of the pocket. The pocket angles are also not consistent.

Please take a look at these pictures and tell me what you find to be wrong with the table and if this type of work is acceptable for a used table...

also, after installation every time they have been back.. the rubber pockets have been left loose in the pocket with the rubber impeding the path of the ball. No nails or screws have been put in place and the pockets simply will not sit flush. I am not referring to sitting flush on the top fo the rail, but sitting flush with the pocket entrance for the balls.

Also, the shims are loose on each pocket and have not been trimmed properly.

Looks pretty hacked to me.
Check the playfield dimensions (cushion nose to cushion nose).
Correct dimensions should be 50" side to side wherever you measure.
End to end should be 100"

Then - find someone else to fix the table.

I've just came up with a new T.V. show idea called, "Hacked".

On a serious note:Don't let them back in.Get in contact with the hack for a refund. If they refuse take them to court.2nd contact the realkingcobra. That table needs to be rebuilt top to bottom.

you all have confirmed my worst fear on this table. Getting a refund should be interesting... i have no qualms going to court.

the table consistently measures about 1/2 inch too wide across the table and the length is also about 1/2 too long.

I assume the table is supposed to measure EXACTLY 50" across correct?

Yes it should be Exactly 100x50

Also, Please tell everyone the mechanic so none of us get screwed.

I will do so as soon as I feel that the mechanic will not or cannot resolve my problem.

So long as they continue to at least attempt to repair it, whether they are hollow attempts or not, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. If he is able to make things right and I walk away from the deal satisfied, I do not think it is appropriate to ruin his name or reputation to the extent that a complaint on the internet is capable of. I hope you understand. If things are not made right... cnn might end up knowing about this one haha. I'm VERY unhappy.

Totally understand, keep us updated.

Could someone please give me a measurement for what the rail height is supposed to be... felt to cushion nose.

Anyone that does work like that to start has no pride.Further more picture's do not lie.You put your trust in this person when you hired them. They failed and I can tell you anyone that does that kind of work sure can't fix it.

I tend to agree with you, but I want to give them a chance to make things right either through repair of the table or through a refund. Ruining someone's name preemptively is not going to help me get a refund.

Dude that table looks like shit.

I would get a complete refund and and go out and look for another table. who knows what they did to the rails and if if looks like that on the outside I would hate to see what it looks like under the rail cloth.

Hopefully everything goes well for ya

Go get yourself your money back. There is no way these guys have any idea what they are doing. To walk away and leave something like that is criminal.

I would also suspect this is a well worn crown with casting insert issues. The cloth jammed in between does not help also. Angles are definitely wrong, not to mention the butcher job on the bed cloth.

I believe anyone capable of leaving this is NOT capable of fixing these major problems.

Giving them a fourth attempt to fix that table is not being gracious to their reputation. They have already been given several opportunities to make the table right or refund your money. Demand your money now, they don't know what they are doing.

They should be outed now, before they screw others. Remember the old "fool me once" rule. Shame on you if you let them try to fix that POS.

Have to agree with you.
Butcher job of the cloth in the pockets -
Castings not flush -
Playfield out of dimension -
Inconsistent pocket dimensions -

There's probably more we don't see.
Bringing in a new mech might help.
