Installing Worsted Wool Cloth

... They don't want persons spending premium dollar for their product to have a chance to install it correctly themselves or close to correctly? ...

I'd think most people that buy Simonis cloth would want it installed correctly - Not CLOSE to correctly which is typically the result that DIYers get.

I disagree with you on this. Putting cloth on your own table is an appealing DIY project for a number of reasons. First with all due respect to the skilled mechanics, this is not really the rocket science part of a table restoration. Of course there's techniques and tricks but the same old hand drawn instructions everyone has seen in numerous books etc that have been around since the great depression works pretty well. Yes even with worsted cloth. Secondly not everyone has a qualified mechanic logistically available even if they don't mind paying. Nothing I hate worse than paying someone to do something and getting a result worse than I could achieve after watching a you tube video or two. This seems to be a recurring theme in life the older I get. Lastly, not everyone has the money to hire a good professional. That's just economic fact. The information is out there and folks will get it one way or another. So why make it difficult for someone willing to buy a DVD for $30? Especially when you're the one profiting. There are many, many so called table mechanics who are going to do a crappy job regardless of this information anyway. These are just sloppy humans and information won't fix them. So what's the thinking really in trying to make this information semi-private? Seems pretty asinine to me.

When Simonis N.A. decides to sell cloth direct to the consumer I'm sure they would also make the X1's and DVD's available. Fact is they only sell to the trade and their distributors and that is unlikely to change.

Then they should sell the DVD's to distributors to resell when they resell the cloth. Doesn't that make sense?

I've been waiting for the DVDs since Glen first mentioned them. I'm going to build a pool table some day, and of course it will be me installing the cloth. I visit mechanics forum every time I log on to AZB in order to get more of wisdom and knowledge of you guys. Now there are DVDs available which contain, as I heard, Glen's 3-pc slate leveling method (present only as a Word file so far) and other tricks. And now I learnt I have to be looking for some methods of acquiring them other than purchasing. Okay, great move

Whichever legitimate seller you buy the cloth from also has access to the DVD's.
Probably doesn't need to be spelled out any further.
