I wondered if someone knows whether or not Instroke ever made a soft case larger than 4b8s?

I don't think so, usually when you have that many shafts you want a hard case to protect them from hitting into each other. But other companies make them, if your interested.

Kind of. They had a soft case that zipped open on three sides that used insert boards w/elastic on both sides to hole the butt or shafts in place. I believe each board could handle 3b/6s but not sure. I had one with 2 boards in it so I was able to carry more than 4 full cues fairly easily. I believe they are still around but you would have to get lucky to find one. Mine was sold about 2 years ago.

No, I never did. The largest soft case I made was a 3x6. A soft case being one that has no support or protection along the sides other than the cover material.

I did make a soft-side case called a butterfly style that was semi-hard. This is the case that 12 Squared is describing. His was the small version that was designed to hold 2x4 but could accommodate 4x8. The larger version was designed to hold 3x6 but could hold 6x12 with two boards in it. I used to use that one as small dealer cases.

I also made a 16x32 version that was a dealer case/display case.

For the person who was concerned about the butts and shafts. In my cases the butts and shafts always had adequate separation. In the butterfly and dealer cases I used each week to take cues to tournaments I can tell you that they carried well over $300,000 in cues over an eight year period. Some of my customers are the most well known cuemakers and dealers and they have carried millions of dollar's worth of cues in my semi-hard cases.

My new JB Case designed dealer and semi-hard cases will be an improvement over those by using some ideas I have been tinkering with for several years.

Thanks for your replies. I just purchased what on the exterior appears to be a soft case, I did not see the interior, but it was sold with the intent of holding 6b 12s. So this may be one that John was speaking about.
That is what I want, I will know soon. Thanks again!

I have the 6x12 butterfly style leather case, and carry 6 butts w/10 shafts. It protects them well.

I stand corrected, John. Thanks. How are you?

naw, if I didn't make the distinction for myself I would probably call the AVP style of cases soft cases as well.

I don't know if the AVP style of case was ever called a "semi-hard" but that's what I called them when I had to classify the cases I was making.

The Instroke Butterfly cases were based on the AVP style which was created by Allen Gilbert if I remember correctly.

AVP stands for American Vinyl Products.

I am doing pretty good. Working on a boatload of new designs and several one of a kind orders right now.

As Fast Eddie said, "I'm Back!".

Give Diane my best please! Hope you get this after another 8 and out.

John

I thought that AVP was started by George Aranak (sp?) but I have no first hand knowledge of this . Bob Jewett uses his case and I just bought one here on az. Has zippers on the butt sleeves but they are too large in diameter to secure my cues.

The case was manufactured by George's company, American Vinyl Products, but was a collaboration with the late Mr. Gilbert, so they were both credited for the design, functionality & production. Nice cases by the way.

John, Di says hi back.

I really like the look. Very simple. I'm thinkin of having John's new enterprise make me one like the Aranak but slightly wider so I can slip in hard case tubes and lay 2 butts and 3 shafts flat and then be able to store "stuff" on tob of the 3 shaft tubes.

John, if you see this... what do you think?
