Instroke vs Instroke Germany

What is the story behind Instroke cases? What's the difference between these two companies? (There are two different companies right?)

They are now! The original Instrokes were made in Germany for many years. Then, and I am not really sure of the whole story.....there was a parting of the ways, and the owner took his business to Tawain. The original factory in Germany continued to manufacture the Instroke cases, calling themselves Instroke Germany. The owner took the former German partners to court, and they are now actually called StrokeSports.

I opted for the StrokeSports Premier 2x3 case in burgundy over the Instroke Tawain Premier case. StrokeSports is still using the thick, heavy German Skai upholstery-grade vinyl in the dark rich burgundy color, while the Tawainese Instrokes are using a somewhat lighter grade vinyl that is more red in color than burgundy. The StrokeSports kept the old design, while the Instrokes have an additional pocket and a slightly different closure system. Couldn't tell you what the differences are between the two in the leather versions....but I have heard some complain that the quality/materials are not as nice as they used to be.

All of what you say is true Lisa. Jon, the original owner, was not pleased with some things and he pulled up.

I'm a little confused about which one you are referring to in the statement I quoted you on here. Jon's or both?

from what i got out of that post... the germany made instroke cases are better then the new instroke cases that are now made in tawaiin.. he said the ones that are still made in germany have a better quality to their vinyl.. and the new ones are lacking..

does this same hold true with the leather instroke cases?

The orignal ones made in Germany are excellent quality. The Taiwanese ones are well....

Let's just say there was a dramatic change in the style of the case. My friend has an original, and everything about it is better. The leather, the stitching, the ergonomics.

The newer ones are still tough. They'll work fine as a case. I have one. But they are NOTHING like the original ones. Nothing at all. Just different. Not putting down the new ones, but just saying that they're different.

It is like comparing a Porper Case to a Whitten.

Hands down ,the German cases are far better made and quality of materials are far better as compared to the Tiawan made cases......:)

I have no experience with the leather Instrokes, German-made or Tawainese-made. I have heard some complain that the quality/materials of the current Instrokes are just not the same as the old Instrokes.

Speaking of InStroke cases

I have an old instroke black leather cowboy case. The instroke logo on mine is on the top of the lid in the center. Is that the way some were made or is it a modification that someone has made along the way? The case appears to be about 15-20 yrs old and fairly worn. It looks identical to my father's instroke with the exception of the logo placement. Any ideas?

Old Quality.

Here's my old Instroke 3x5 I retired to my wife. Great quality leather, to bad the color sucks.

I bought it in 99 so yeah, its probably the Germany line.
As for the chalk, I usually do keep it in on of the pockets, was just in a hurry the day I threw it in there.:)

Its the wife's now. Ill let her lug that heavy thing around for a couple years.:D

Latest Stroke Case

My case is one of the latest cases from Germany that I picked up.
It is being distributed through Omega (their logo on bottom of case).
The case is tooled which really shows off the case very well and it is far superior to a team members black Instroke case.
Very good quality leather and it is heavy as mentioned..

From what I understand, the new Instroke, the one that is made in Taiwan is better than the original Instroke. This statement comes from John Barton, the former Instroke owner. Check out this discussion on: http://www.seyberts.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1163

But, if you were the one who moved the company to Tawain, wouldn't you say the same thing too? You certainly wouldn't say that the quality sucked. This is where end-user feedback is more valuable. And most of the feedback I have seen says otherwise.

May be it is like the Predator built in Canada vs Predator built in China situation?

Well, that was the post from Mr. John Barton himself, I just thought I share it with AZer. I have no opinion about this matter, ie neutral. Thank's
