A friend of mine has asked my opinion on instructional videos.
I own none and so have no opinion.

I was wondering what the forum would suggest as the best investment for a complete training course.

Basic to advanced.

I humbly suggest the Video Encyclopedia of Pool Shots (VEPS). Here are direct links to pages containing example clips from each DVD in the series:
Check them out.

Also, here's a link to testimonials from some top instructors and players.

I don't own these DVDs yet, but have followed Dr Dave for a few years. I would say these will be a great asset. I also think everyone learns diffrently so what might be good for one will be junk for soemone else. When I started playing Bob Byrnes vids help me quite a bit. Showed a friend and he got nothing out of them (but he never did learn to really play). So check out vids, and try to get at least one thing from every one and it's worth every penny. Also invest in Accu_stats and TAR dvds.

Just my Opinion.

Jimmy Reid's "Almost All I know" set, look for it on eBay. It's a little dated, but very complete and reasonably priced.

Micha I's new set is also pretty good, and has a more updated look and feel than anything out there.

This topic has come up many times before, so if you do a search you can find more results, possibly in the instructional material review section of the forum.

Search google video for:

The 13th is about snooker tables

Steve Davis The Champions Way

There's enough instructional stuff on YouTube to get a player into Intermediate skills...
