Inter-City Challenge Match - Columbus vs. Indy

The Mizerak Cup? If you're looking to name it after a late great champion of straight pool there you go. However, maybe it should be something that speaks more to the midwest roots of this challenge match.

Well, it's on. This Saturday at Chalkies in Indy, matches start at 3 PM (I'm not sure there will be network coverage, so interested spectators should just plan on attending).

Indy team = Jeanette Lee, Jeff Beckley, Don Wardell, Bob Planalp.

Columbus team = Mike Thornton, ?, ?, and ?.

Good luck to the Columbus Ohio team - it should be a very nice competition.

I like the I-70 14.1 Challenge (Columbus vs. Indianapolis) -- has a ring to it and can be used else where, I-66 14.1 Challenge etc. Later on there could be the Interstate Championship between two cites that have "won" a challenge -- hey you might have something there.

If its a "team" thing then I would suggest total points as the deciding factor for the Challenge. This might include awards for high run, most fouls, and the list goes on.

Definitely need a cup that can be paraded around the room and stored for bragging rights. I’d keep it a little light. The seriousness will build. I vote for The Mizerak Cup.

Joe,
We have decided to kick in $50 per man, the cash goes to the winning team. Winner to be determined by # of match wins (with ball count as the tiebreaker).

We will have a high run prize of $20.

I hope to have the trophy ready by Saturday ("I-70 Straight Pool Challenge, C'bus, Ohio vs. Indianoplace").

We will have a door prize of a world famous "Joe W Portable Counter"; which was VERY GRACIOUSLY DONATED by the renowned JoeW. Many thanks.

Heading out in the morning for the big event. Everybody is very excited. Hopefully, we will make this an annual thing - next year: realtime streaming video.

BTW, please, wish us Columbus guys luck. Being pro-less we are going to need it!

I'll be coming by Chalkie's with a couple of friends tomorrow evening/night (we'll see when my tournament ends), see you there. Someone save a game of 14.1 for me.

mthornto: they ARE going to spot you a ball or two, aren't they? I mean, pro's vs. joe's is gonna want that footage.

Steev,
You are insulting them by suggesting a handicap. "They don't need no stinking handicap." I will apologize to them for your ridiculous idea...I hope they will forgive you.

P.S. - Now if they want to give us a bit of a spot, I'm not too proud to take it.

The best I can hope for is a spot of tea!
