And discussing it on the Forum doesn't mean squat; the cue could be here in a mth, 6 mths, or a year.
The Feds aren't going to track someone's unknown plane arrival date at an unknown airport from this.

And by the way, I asked for opinions or advice on how to avoid any pitfalls and problems with bringing a cue
and I don't give a tinkers dam whether someone thinks ivory is verboten because it isn't. Cues are being made
right now here in the USA that will ship this week, next month, next year and ivory will be used in lots of those cues.

The cue overseas isn't any different other than it was made by a great American cue-maker who undoubtedly
used legal ivory since he made the cue in California. The pool cue in question isn't contributing to elephant poaching
any more than cue-makers world-wide and especially in the USA, that are using ivory in their cues they make right now.
But keep in mind the ivory used by USA cue-makers is legal ivory (undoubtedly) since you can still buy ivory in the USA.

To condemn me and not these many cue-makers, well, that's genuinely being hypocritical. All I'm attempting to do is
"avoid the pitfalls and problems with bringing the cue into the country"......I wasn't asking for tips on how to smuggle or
anyone's tacit approval on my cue purchase. Holy shit, how quick some Azers are to go to the dark side....it's very sad.

Your right, the way JB likes to type and make things in to a epic, he might be the one talking to customs. I mean he said I someone had to do was call customs and alert them,(and we I no how much John likes to talk)

Or it could be an anonymous troll who just loves to cause trouble. With all the anonymous assholes on here I would be really hesitant to put my cue buying business on the forum.

Believe it or not there are people who post here who are opposed to the use of ivory at all who might want to see cue confiscated.

Or just any anon dipshit with nothing to lose. I feel like any anonymous person on here who chooses to be a jerk is the type of asshole that wouldn't hesitate to drop a dime on a deal like this just for kicks.

At least when I want to be a dick I sign my name to it.

Just seems to me to be an awful lot of risk to be talking about on here. This sounds like a situation where if you walk up and declare that you have a pool cue with ivory in it you had better be ready with some acceptable proof that it's legal acquired pre-ban ivory or you might find that the least they will do is simply confiscate it.

The way I see it is....

Any person coming across the border has a legal obligation to declare that they have an item containing ivory in it. If they do that then they have to prove that the item is made with pre-ban ivory. If they can't prove that to the satisfaction of the customs agent then the item could be seized.

If they don't declare their ivory items and are then caught they then have to prove the items were made with legally acquired pre-ban ivory or be possibly charged with attempted smuggling.

Maybe much ado about nothing.

But I promise that I would not take that risk of trying to bring a big ivory cue across the United States border. Not happening, especially in light of the current climate surrounding ivory stuff.

Mail it. Much safer IMO.
 
Regardless of your deal or no deal that may or may not happen in the future, it is illegal to bring ivory into the United States. Without exception. To do so in contravention on that law.... that's really the Oxford English definition of smuggling.

Legal to own, not legal to transport.

I legally own a 4oz bottle of shampoo. If I sneak it past the security checkpoint at an airport, I will be detained without hesitation. Even though it is legal to own.

I know how partial you are to ivory in cues, so I hope you find its sister here in the US and there are no difficulties.

readily available, always. On a WiFi signal using
someone else's Internet should be good, right? Wrong,
the hardware you use has a unique MAC address.
Using someone else's computer? So what, you will
sign into something that will be easily used to make the
tie to your true identity.

Absolutely not. But if it gets held up in customs,
if anything unexpected comes up, it will not be difficult
to determine where came from and who it's going to.

Import all the ivory you want. Best of luck. I am sure
people do it every single day. But most of them do not
go online ahead of time to let the world know about
their upcoming plans to commit a crime. That is just

If you want to play with fire it is your choice of course. Don't be surprised however if you get burned.

The point of contention is not "if" it is "when".

So be very careful when making your choices.
