I've been thinking about playing in tournaments. The plan is to get motivated and keep my youtube channel going.

First Video Journal entry about setting a pool goal

The main forum doesnt have a beginner section for approaching tournaments.

I know the video is rough, I am working through some concepts.

You idea will only work if you GOYA and do something, what have you actully accomplished except post pile of stupid bullshi*?

Pool has always been more of a disease than a hobby for me……(I’m certain I’m not alone on this one)

When I first started too.

I had the movies, the magazines and the pool time.

The disease part I agree, that is why I wanted to start over, using all the knowledge and experience I have gained.

What I want to focus on this time is enjoying myself and the experience more than other expectations.

Well, hobbies are one of the best things for the mind and soul. Addictions denote something out of control. A disease is harmful and sometimes deadly. All of life comes down to choices, choices are built upon and affected by strengths, weaknesses, and experiences.

Like everything else, pool can morph between a hobby and an addiction - the addiction can begin to resemble a disease - thus causing harm to you or you and others. So, then, choices need to be made, that is where strength comes into play - however one obtains it.

It can become an addiction. I had a customer who lost his business because he just could not stay out of the pool room. He was in the drywall business he's supposed to be out selling jobs or supervising jobs instead he's in the pool room either playing nine ball or one pocket trying to run his business from my payphone.

Add to that my place was open 24 hours and he used them all. I don't think this guy ever slept if he wasn't playing he was sweating a game and betting on the side. I remember the first time he walked in the pool room, I don't think he was like this then but it basically took over his life.

And as it might seem farfetched. You take the average guy he's got his job he goes to work maybe watching some TV has a few beers but in general his life is kind of boring the same old same old.

Then he wanders into a pool room and if it's a for real pool room it's a world he's never seen before. It can be very easy to get caught up in it.

I was, I dropped out of school in my high school senior year. I did get a GED but pool was all I could think about. From honor student to drop out.

Not just pool- many, many forms of addiction- look at the guy a few months ago in Georgia- thought he had to kill the massage parlor women because he could not stop going there! It is not really the game- it is the person's mind at a given time. People that I know who have addiction disorders often have moved from one form of addiction to another - sometimes a few simultaneously, complete abstinence seems to be their only remedy - folks who live life in the extremes- tough habits to break--------- "middle of the road" can be a very nice place to reside.

Now I am planning to play in a pool tournament.

Which goal do I work on?

Getting weaker players than me to sign up for the event or playing at the pool hall the tournament is at.

If anyone needs business cards to pass out, you can use this.

Is this for real?
I was a burger king kids club member.
For cereals I would collect UPCs and send them in for a certificate.

Today's pool player has trouble approaching non pool players. This is my solution.
When I used to approach people about pool, it was always a cold sell.

Today the best approach is just tell non pool players where you will be and when to get there.

I still need to complete a membership application and get it signed.
Wait till the pro that signs my membership sees my introduction, they will be like wow.

I will say hi I am interested in the tournament, I have a business card, how can I participate in the fun?
